LSU was once a fine football program with reasonable aspirations of frequently being in SEC Championship and sometimes NC contention.

But that no longer seems to be the case.

Is Ole Miss now a better football program than LSU? Is it a more desirable destination for recruits?

Not sure, but I would say it's at least pretty damn close to happening.

Lane is not even considering any offer by LSU now. He also doesn't appear to be wanting to go elsewhere either.

Has Joey F. made Ole Miss into a better football program as a whole?

There is one job in college ball that Lane Kiffin covets. Truly covets. Alabama. That's never been a secret.

Didn't Ol' Miss baseball win a CWS recently? What's the relative state of their program now compared to LSU? May wanna pump the brakes a tad before we bury LSU football.

Kiffin doesn't have to be concerned that Governor Tate Reeves will stick his nose in the football program, so he's got that going for him

Temporarily, yes. Long term, No.

Nebraska probably thought the same thing.

Will LSU go the way of Nebraska (obscurity), or the way of Alabama (recovery)?

I have no idea, but it will be interesting to watch.

If LSU steals Kiffin away there may never be another Ole Miss poster brave enough to post on this site again. Enjoy the next two months because it might be the closest you ever get to winning anything of substance in football.

Not so sure about that. Definitely easier to get recruits here at ole miss than it used to be due to the portal and NIL. Plus it’s a nice campus but LSU still has an aura about it that can get players.

If I was looking at it from a historical perspective, I’d go LSU, but the only way a program can develop that rich history is in the present. And if Ole Miss was able to keep Lane, and LSU doesn’t dazzle the recruits with this hire, I’d say Ole Miss has the upper hand

LSU and Florida fans are firmly planted in living in the old era of CFB.
