oh stfu. He was a 5 star recruit. Were Les and Orgeron supposed to somehow know he would tamper with a drug test? Set aside your psychosis for second and look at it rationally. Fulton had offers from everyone. If Les had not recruited him, our fans, including you, would have crucified him, fact. Every bad decision a player makes is not the coaches' faults.

I'm telling you the two rationales for why the penalty is 2x what a normal failure is. I'm not saying they are separate in the rule book. Jesus people.

Fans of a team with 3 scholarship cornerbacks (yes our own coach’s fault).

We are obviously curious why this justifies half a career of ineligibility while cases of violent crimes and other drug related run ins have required much less, mainly because we don’t want to suck at football this year

We have 3 cornerbacks on roster and 2 other guys playing corner this year

Our 4th is now a scholarship WR who played QB in highschool. Zero experience.
Our 5th is an incoming safety recruit will play corner now too out of necessity

We have 3 guys we wanted to play corner that will be playing corner for us.

He was a WR in high school who was forced to play QB his senior year out of necessity just like Rueben Randle. He played WR his junior year and had over 1000 yards and 18 TDs. And moving a blue chip safety to corner isn't a stretch. Had Surtain not burned LSU on NSD, no one would be talking about this.

Devin White wanted to play RB for us and was recruited as such. He was the #5 RB in his class.

I don't dispute we have some depth issues at CB right now, but some of you present everything with the football team in the most negative way you can come up with. No one hates LSU as much as LSU fans, it's pathetic.

So a scholarship WR who played QB (not corner) in high school. Zero experience at corner.

Yes not nearly as bad, he may turn into a good corner. Staff still wanted him at safety. If we have 5 total corners he would not be among them, he’s here because he has to be

I’ll concede to 3.5 scholarship corners

What position do you think Russell Gage played in high school? How about Corey Webster? Russell Shepard? Ruben Randle? Devin White? I could go on. Moving an athlete from corner to WR or vice versa is pretty common whether you care to admit it or not. How polished do you think high school players are when they get to LSU? Most of them are raw talents regardless.

Multiple positions, including the one they ended up playing in college.

Usually with prior experience. Take any athlete and move him to a brand new position without even highschool experience and he’ll struggle more than thrive imo.

Netherly is an athlete, might be a great corner in 3 years. He’ll be at a huge disadvantage come this September against SEC WRs. Even more so than your mid level recruit who been covering WR for 4 years straight

oh so what you're saying is good athletes have the ability to play multiple positions. Thanks

you have any particular examples?

Netherly is likely #5 among the CBs. He's not going to see the field much. He's there for depth. And if he does see the field a lot, absent injuries, it's because he's good enough to play the position well.

In time. The more they have played there the better.

You use devin white yet he DID play LB in highschool. And it still took him almost a year to be comfortable at that position in college.

A Devin white that only played offense in HS being forced to step on the field at LSU game one is going to struggle.

I agree Joseph will be fine. He’s been playing DB for years.

most players aren't ready in year 1 even if they played the position in high school

I agree. Now imagine if they didn’t even play that position in HS.

Netherly has a year in the weight room in college but he will be “freshman” on defense, but most freshman defenders have played defense in the last 5 years.

My point is not he can’t turn into a good one, my point is I’m not pretending with have 4 cornerbacks right now. We have 3 and a WR learning to play corner. (4 when Joseph gets here)

How much playing time do you actually think netherly gets this year? Serious question. He's not going to be on the field much so stop freaking out because our 5th string CB just switched from WR. If three guys go down to injury, then you can start freaking out.

I don’t think he’ll be on the field much and that’s my point. You said “our number keeps shrinking thread.” And my entire conversation with you has been I don’t count him in our number right now

We’ll probably put current safeties in nickel before he’d see the field. He’s a WR

so why even be concerned with "3 scholarship corners" and present it as such?
