Buyouts are typically reduced by whatever that coach ends up making in their next job. So if your buyout is 10m a year for five years, and your next job is 4 m, then only 6m is owed. Also, there are clauses that require you to seek employment, you can't do what Ed O did, that was a special agreement and not typical.

Therefore, don't look at that buyout number for a coach as something you necessarily have to pay. Jimbo's could be different, I'm just commenting in general.

That is dumb if the AD does that. Might as well say just 1 million a year.

but I think A&M will be better served by giving Jimbo a few years

For sure. Hell I say go ahead and extend him.

I feel bad for the Aggies.

Meh, they polluted this board and many other places for months with their unearned arrogance and creepiness over their money recruiting class.

Someone sure is touchy about their failed head coaches. Do the details really matter when you've got another dead man walking on your hands?

U actually think this will change anything? Good luck. Jimbo appears to be the 1st to be identified as a horrible contract but $100M+ seems to be becoming the norm...justified or not.

I think you’re missing what’s so terrible about the contract.

The biggest laughing stock in all of college football. I took a walk at the park this morning. Lots of Tulane gear on. One of those beautiful days in New Orleans. I got to talking to some Tulane fans about their future bowl game. One of them said they hoped for aTm to be paired with them. IF they could get enough wins Swear to God...said IF Aggy could get enough wins. That's coming from a Tulane fan.

They still forfeit bowl games after HAVING Enough wins.

Wishing to play aggy in post season is an exercise in futility. We have proof.

Are you asking if a school has ever come out and said we are giving Coach X one more year because we can't afford the buyout? I think that is the stupid question you are asking.
