UTk is now little more than a stepping stone to the Pac 12.
The last 4 years confirm that

I think Hart is actually making the hard choices about what is best for UT long-term. And that means swallowing the bitter pill of another year of Dooley.
Then making his own hire. The next head coach at UT will probably be an up-and-coming assistant or a coach from a mid-major.
Sorry, but I believe in the Jeremy Foley school of thought in "what should be done eventually should be done immediately." If Hart doesn't believe Dooley is his man he should have fired him this year and hired "his guy." If he thinks Dooley COULD be his guy long term then you do EVERYTHING to help make next year successful. In today's college landscape that means giving your assistants multi year deals. By refusing to give that to them everyone knows you are saying you are pretty sure you will be firing them all next year. Saban, Miles, etc. will be drilling that into recruits heads over and over.

Tennessee has to prove some patience with its coaches to right the ship.

I guess but damn... A coach that "needs" a job is not going to cut it in the SEC.

Dooley has handled almost everything poorly. One more year of this and UT will have no problem firing Dooley.

Exactly my point. This is about keeping the potential pool from which to hire the next coach at maximum.
A quick fire and you reduce the number of coaches willing to take the job to either the desperate or the supremely confident.
In other words, hit or miss.
