I guess now that I am older, being around drunk and obnoxious people does not appeal to me.

Reason to drink and have fun. I don’t participate myself, but I get it.

Mardi Gras is the last day before lent. It is a party before you are supposed to fast and give up something.

Most people associate Mardi Gras with Bourbon St., but I have young children and enjoy going to the parades and watching them catching throws and listening to bands. There are large areas along parade routes that are family friendly and you do not have to worry about drunken idiots. Obviously, there are still people who are drinking but it is not like Bourbon St everywhere.

Mardi Gras is not for everyone and that is okay, I just do not understand this boards obession with calling people names that do enjoy attending the parades.

To each their own

St. Patrick's Day is the best for this in BR IMO. I have a childhood friend that has a house on the parade route and I loved brinigng my kid over there to hang out in the front yard and watch the floats. I miss those days.

Oh I agree. Why go to The Museum of Modern Art in New York to view Van Gogh's original Starry Night, when you can pop into an art store and buy a cheap copy ?

These boys led a parade in Downtown Mobile this weekend. First time for me in person. Pretty fricking breathtaking.

No reason to apologize to me. I think calling things trashy is trashy.

I live close to the Budweiser Clydesdale stables in St. Louis (at Grants Farm) - dirive by fairly frequently and seeing them never gets old. My house is on a local 4th of July parade route, once in a while they appear in the parade - I have a picture of them in front of my house.
