As far as the significance of national holidays go, it should be right up there after July 4 and Memorial Day. Happy Juneteenth!

In no particular order, the Big 3

Easter
Halloween
4th of July

FWIW, Juneteenth food > Thanksgiving food

Well, Easter and Halloween aren’t national holidays. Thanksgiving is though.

I also celebrate and commemorate the day we executed Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for their treason.

I agree and when you think about it, I would rank it ahead of the 4th because it represented real freedom. The 4th was more of an Anglo-civil war amongst competing political forces. No one was forced into bondage nor made slaves.

We don't need this. I know you are only joking, I hope, but that way of thinking belongs in the past.

I guess you and Dave from Tx dont hang out ?

During a C-SPAN call-in program celebrating Juneteenth, a Republican caller from Texas named Dave blamed slavery on Democrats.

"I have not heard one white Democrat apologize for slavery," he said. "I haven't heard any Black person say thank you to the over 300,000 white men who died to free those Black slaves."

Black were higher in the social ladder than the Irish back in the day.
