Which is very odd. They are usually very weak defensively. State has lockdown guards and a beast in the middle. On paper, MSU has a lot of advantages against Notre Dame.

They also recognize Minnesota as the 1960 National Champions. If State wins it will be the first outright National Championship in Miss.

That's because 3/4 of the major polls at the time (AP, Coaches, NFF) were still selecting before the bowls. The FWAA always did it right and waited until after.
You can't give Ole Miss shite for claiming it either since Ohio State, a blueblood, claims 1961 solely because of the FWAA.

ETA. Their baseball team could win it all this year and I would pull for them because we obviously are off this year. They are filled with so much venom and hate for our superior school in Mississippi that it clouds their judgement.

3 of their Women’s National Titles were at the top (D1) level then
DSU may be at a lower level, but at least they are nationally relevant in most sports.

I told my wife same thing. Not sure getting ND is any easier than Uconn. At least we had experience beating Uconn. Notre Dame is the real deal, we will have to play our best game.

I won't lie, as long as state was ranked ahead of y'all in 14 I was rooting for y'all. I still remember the day we beat Auburn and y'all beat Bama. I had a severe viral infection and needed to go to the ER but knew they'd admit me. So I stayed home sick as a dog to watch in HD before going to the ER at like 11pm and sure enough was admitted. But I wanted us both to ride the wave and have the egg bowl be the epicenter of college football. Didn't know Mullen would make it a ritual of shitting the bed in big games though.
