Interesting timing that Bama self reported itself and proposes a 1-3 game suspension immediately after the Ole Miss game and a month before the LSU game.

That is why Saban is the master.

I seriously doubt Bama just found out about this.

Needed him for first few games.

acting like he bought a car with pell grant money is fricking laughable. him getting approved for a loan as a student with no job, no co-signer, and no down payment is equally laughable

if they live off campus they also get a housing allowance of like $900 a month that they can keep if they dont spend that much. you rent a house with some other players and you all keep a chunk of change. your assumption is that they are all destitute, when in face most of them have at least some funds available, while getting all of their expenses paid. whats laughable is that you think its not possible that a bank would give a future first rounder a car loan if he could prove he had the current monthly income to cover it

Much less getting an interest rate of 3% on a used car. The state average with excellent credit on a used car loan up to 20k right now is 4.48%.

the change from 3-4.48% raises the payment like $15.

He could have had a family member co-sign on a no down payment lease and then used his Pell Grant to pay the car note. A few months ago I got a 2013 car that was $30,000 with $0 out of pocket and my payment is only $309 a month on a 3 year lease. I have no idea of his, or his family members, financial situation and I doubt anyone else on here does either. I hate sticking up for a gump but it isn't that far-fecthed that he could afford the car.

Just saw all of this, so I don't know all of the details. If he's getting all of this money, then why is he taking loans from a coach? Also, unless Alabama does it differently, my athletic scholarship paid once a semester.

so why did he need to borrow $500? dude, we all know that athletes get things most students just don't. everyone does it. i don't know why people are acting so offended. if you want to believe that cinton-dix bought himself a nice car and is making monthly payments on it through student loan money and his stipend, then by all means, continue. but most of us live in reality, where we are all well aware that college football players have been driving nice cars at no expense to themselves for decades.

WRONG IMO.

More than likely he got in bigger trouble for lying to the NCAA at first.

Do they pay athletic scholarships throughout the semester now? Mine paid at the beginning of the fall semester and at the beginning of spring semester.
