I'm glad this wasn't Trooper lending money. No telling what would happen.
It wouldn't have been a loan, and nobody would know.

If you think he's done for the year, you're in for some disappointment. We all think he should get a few games suspension, but that's it.

Auburn paid SCAM 200k , TAMU covered up a 5 figure John Hancock orgy , but HAHA borrowed and paid back 500 bucks OOOOooooooooooo
Wait. If that's so, then it's pretty clear no proof is needed. Bammer is absolutely funneling money from agents through runners (coaches, former players, menswear owners). We all know it's true, and obviously you don't require proof before accusing. So don't be mad if other fans are rolling their eyes at bammer's deflection.

You know it to be true.
A team that always does the right thing , compared to teams that lawyer up makes Alabama look like a parent who doesn't cover up their kids problems , thus the kid receives correction and he and his siblings learn life lessons VS. other parents ( AU , TAMU ) who cover up their kids problems , allow them to run wild and never get any life lessons because the parents bend over backwards to prorect their wayward kids.
Might I appeal to the non-retard Bama fans to please control your own here.

How do you think this minor infraction was brought to light? Seems strange that anyone ever found out about it.
I really don't know. That is a good question though. A sudden change in conscience? A random conversation with a team mate that told him to report it? It may be as innocent as him thinking that if a coach was willing to do it, it must be O.K.
I really don't have any clue.

He was probably aware that he was at risk of taking the fall if they got caught.
I am sure he was, but it would be very hard for him to tell a senior coach no if they asked him to be a middle man. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Without knowing all the details and by only going with what's been reported, he should out a few games in addition to the punishment he'll get from the coaches.

I didn't read this entire thread, but how many BAMA posters are in here saying this is OK and he should be allowed back on the field?
I'm saying it's a terrible rule and that this action should be allowed.

My best guess is that compliance started an investigation into agents/runners after the recent story about Luther Davis and this was shaken out of the rubble.

The real penalties come when schools try to hide stuff, even minor stuff like this, that's when you get hammered
That's why GaTech got busted over a few hundred dollars worth of stuff.

This, though, is much worse than that. UNC and John Blake comes to mind.
If nothing comes from these issues recently unveiled at Bama, USCw should throw a goddamned fit.

Someone answer me this...
How could a coach paying a player, during the summer, not result in game forfeits for the games he played in thus far this season (assuming the money hasn't been paid back)?

Very plausible.

Anyone saying that Alabama has a history of "slaps on the wrist" from the NCAA is genuinely retarded.

he provided bank account statements showing he paid it back.

True but they would have to investigate how he got $500 to pay him back.

No, you're not. Clinton-Dix has already repaid the money and has provided bank records to UA showing that he had done just that.
You're right that this is minor however, just because his bank records show a withdrawal of that amount doesn't mean he paid the coach back.

Ithe linked article by the OP, it stated Ha Ha turned over his bank records showing where the money was paid back.

I'm not sure why anybody in this thread thinks that Bama would "vacate" any wins when Ha Ha was not ineligible while he was playing those games. I highly doubt that anymore happening than Ha Ha being suspended for two games and the Asst. S&C coach fired or fined or something.
