Emmitt Smith is another reallllly good answer.
I still stick by Reggie white and agree that it's hard to judge someone at that position in comparison to QB's, RB's etc

Look at the stats, no one compares to Derrick Thomas numbers. I think he had 27 sacks in one season and possibly near 50 for his career.

Their is a very short list of TRUE SOPHOMORES that have won the Bednarik award and SEC defensive player of the year award. The list begins and ends with ONE NAME.
TM7.
TM7.

If he had played this year and produced at near 2011 levels you couldn't leave him off the list. As of now though? Maybe.

Was in the stands for Peyton's first start, last start on senior day and several games in between. Think he's a very valid answer.

The real answer is Derrick Thomas
This and it's not close. 23 sacks in one season. Derrick Thomas finishing 10th in the Heisman voting is the reason I was pissed at Manti even getting mentioned.

If anyone actually believes JM is in the top 5 ALLTIME, they are either an idiot or a huge homer. One season doesn't make you an ALLTIME great no matter how good it is.

As a huge LSU fan and big supporter of TM7, absolutely not. Put together a GREAT GREAT year and a half and then we all know the story.
Sadly this conference is full of guys who were amazing talents but their careers were "a flash in the pan"

I don't feel one can be chosen. There are a few through the years who can be labeled one of the Greatest in the SEC.

If you believe this, how can you also say TM7 deserves mention?

Yeah I know. What could've been. He was a few ff away from setting the NCAA forced fumble record.

Don't make me post Reggie White's NFL stats and accomplishments on here.

Love Bicuit. Cornelius was the MAN.
No way to truly compare, but as great as Peyton was in college, his father was greater.
