Also, the split was pretty much accepted then. People didn't question USC vs Bama because they knew USC was getting their share already.

It may have been different if there was only one title.

Why not? None of those Army players had anything to do with WW2.

Pretty much. Wasn't much complaining afterwards. The AP was actually the more prestigious trophy then.

Yep. Lots of teams can say they shoulda, woulda. Or shouldn't have. Colorado 1990 comes to mind, as does BYU 1984.

Only because we got hit with a bowl ban.

Kinda like 1994. Penn State was the best team, but they gave it to Nebraska because Osborne had never won a Natty. Then Nebraska reeled off a couple more.

Or FSU getting in over ND in 93 because of sympathy for Bowden.
And William Floyd fumbled!

They were 12th and rose over Bama who was never lower than 5th , why ? ND bias

Bama lost in Lincoln Neb. 31-24 with 5 turnovers.

ND lost in Jackson Miss. 20-13 a team Bama beat by 19 points.

Bama beat Ohio St in the Sugar bowl 38-6.

The polls had set up this jump by moving Bama from 2nd to 3rd after the Auburn win.

SAME AS THE 1966 SCREW JOB.

Makes me want to watch my taped BCSNCG 2013 version again.

In the 40s 50s 60s 70s there was a definite northern bias in the polls go back and look at all the southern teams that finnished 2nd or 3rd with the same record or better records from 1936 on , the evident bias will astonish you.

What's funny is that in the 1960's the AP and the UPI poll was voted on before the bowl games so Bama won the 1964.

Arkansas screamed about it so the AP decided to wait until after the bowls with helped Bama win in 65.

Arkansas was unbeaten in 1965, 10-0, all year until they lost to LSU in the Cotton Bowl. And Alabama was 8-1-1, but then beat 10-0 Nebraska in the Orange bowl. So Bama was voted #1 by the AP because we won our bowl game.

You know, at the time I would have agreed with you about Penn State, but looking back, Nebraska would have rolled over them

94 Penn State had a REMARKABLY balanced offense. Just a juggernaut. But their defense was rather suspect, iirc. Didn't Indiana score a boatload on them?

That 94 Nebraska team wasn't dominant like the 95 team was. The 94 Penn State team WAS dominant. Bama was undefeated in 1994, then Barker got hurt in the SECCG and we lost to UF by 1 point.

No hoggy , there was no polls after the 1964 season either , you play by the rules of the day you don't change the rules in the middle of the game.

The title was for the season and bowls a month away were considered an reward and/or an exhibition game.

They were the better team.

I guess Bama being voted into the BCS NCG over Oklahoma State is proof the system works?

However you have to justify to not being able to beat the second best team from the SWC that year.

So now the 94 title is tainted as well.

They were not the better team , youthey lost to Ole Miss who we thrashed. Bama plays SEC schedule and USC & Nebraska OOC .

Even someone with limited football knowledge knows Bama was better than OSU in 2011.

Also they lost to a lesser team ( Iowa St ) just like ND losing to Ole Miss. in 77 and OSU lost after Bama lost and were actually like 5th or 6th and pollsters jumped them over Stanford for NO REASON !!!

So now, mutual opponents also matters.

Interesting logic you bammers use to both justify a title and claim you were screwed out of one.

If these were real, I guess it would matter.

Actually we did win , Joe Namath was ruled to have stepped out at the 7 yard line...... ( pictures prove otherwise ) and then he scored on 4rth down but the ref said no. B.S.

1964 Ark no losses 1965 Ark. no losses until LSU spanked you in the bowl game paving the way for Bama to jump that azz....

The moral of this story is: If you hadn't byched in 1964 you would now and forever be known as AP & UPI national champs of 1965......
