I know you are on a perfectly good anti government rant but if Teddy doesn't put his big stick down football would have been dead long before your granddad was a twinkle in his dad's eyes.

I'm not saying we are at that stage here for a government step in, but yeah, the government can't break something that is already shattered. It behooves us to not let things get to the point that is an option.

Not fully historically inaccurate. Study the Great Depression. But if you study the history of the Corps of Engineers on the Mississippi River, you can see how the government can fully f$&k something up.

I think at this point, there will have to be some sort of government involvement to prevent the further erosion of college athletics.

Like it or not. All state/public and most private schools are completely subject to government intervention. That issue was decided long long ago. Ask Alabama how that Governor Wallace thing turned out.
