Gotta give CU credit- they were not intimidated. Violence rivaled Bama v LSU

which was 100% big-boy football.

D Watson and that big WR knew they were marked men from the beginning. They got hammered early and often. And they kept pushing and made the plays that ultimately won them the MNC.

That game should put "Clemsoning" to rest. They go about things differently than Bama; but they are SEC big, tough, and fast.

Agree, great teams. The SEC should now know how to catch up with the ACC, but it starts on the lines and QBs

Is this still a thing? The SEC has been soft the last couple years.

I disagree. Alabama was doing all of the hard-hitting with vicious defense. Clemson couldn't tackle Bo Scarbrough . LSU was way more physically imposing.
People, this game, and Clemson the last 2 seasons, came down to one player - Deshaun Watson.
Trade QBs, and Bama blows them out of the fricking stratosphere. Alabama was better at every position except QB

I mean the SEC as a whole. The conference isn't as big and scary as many want to think it is.

Meh, their receivers kicked arse. Deshaun's passing wasn't perfect but they made the play every time

Yeah it is. We just have terrible QBs in the conference right now. We're dominant on defense and every other position group

It is a softer conference compared to others, but will be back on top in a few years

My comment was about Clemson handling the physicality of the game, not that it rivaled the LSU game. Clemson handled Bama's strength better than Bama handled Clemon's...imo at least.

As the game went on, it became apparent that Clemson was deeper and better conditioned than Bama.

I can't remember the last time a Saban team won the turnover battle by 2 and still got outmanned when it came down to crunch time. That game was Dabo's Mona Lisa and an exclamation point on establishing Clemson as an elite program.

Can't say I agree on the conditioning part, but Bama certainly had a depth problem. Not having Eddie Jackson and Shaun Dion-Hamilton really came home to roost late in the game when the guys that would have been subbing for them had instead been on the field a very, very long time.

In the end, that's just football. Last year, IIRC, Clemson was down a few players and Bama won the game. Tables were turned this season.

As I said in another thread, these teams have played for the title two years in a row with a combined scoring differential of one point. That's about as even as you can get so every little thing matters a whole lot.

Anyhow, congrats on the win. It was a fantastic game.

That could be said about a lot of teams. Put Watson at LSU. LSU would of beat Bama by 35 points.

Yeah, yall are such a deep and elite program that I'm sure losing DWatson will be a minor bump in the road on your back to the playoffs in 2017 (lol)

That was my point. With Watson at Clemson, they only won by 4.
Clemson was largely a one man team

They've won 10 games or more for 6 straight seasons.

It's ok to admit they're a pretty damned good program.

Same as the Bama-LSU game.

Bama's defense is just nasty. It's incredible to me the size and talent of their front 7 EVERY DAMN YEAR. If you don't have an elite Oline you better have a Johnny Manziel or a Deshaun Watson back there that can pull off athletic heroics.

I think this has largely been the difference in the LSU/Bama matchups over the past 6 years. LSU's oline talent has dropped off and we just don't have those players at QB. Talent is very comparable at most other positions but LSU always seems to be stuck in a pit because we can't control the line of scrimmage like with other teams and our QB play has been shite. Makes the gameplanning by Bama easy as pie against us. Win field position. Take lead. Pound them into submission with the running game. Don't gift them points off turnovers.

They almost clemsoned it to us though. Oj Howard's bust play? Couldn't believe that happened again.
