Arkansas is playing in the College World Series after defeating Ole Miss in the supers....there is another reminder.

I give you credit for still trying to troll... but it is over man. You lost. 14-1 is 14-1. You can't spin that as a nip and tuck affair where the cards just didn't play out your way.

We were two evenly matched squads and Arkansas showed up for the climatic game while Ole Miss didn't. Your team is the architect of their own destruction.

You guys know who you're throwing first game? Or have a gut feeling about it?

That is a tough one. Do you trot out the talented freshman Connor Noland or take note that his first time in a super big time game he was absolutely hammered? Do you go with the reliever who had an amazing game against Ole Miss?

Gut feeling only. I think tech goes with Dallas. Or possibly their ace. Hard to tell. Maybe bonnin, one of your transfers.

Balls, who can say.

I really should be focusing on Michigan, who will kick our arse.

I miss the old SWC and I do miss playing Texas. Now, for the record, and with no insult intended to you, I don't miss being in a conference with Texas. Y'all can be hard to live with.

That having been said... if there was a way for the old SWC, the old SEC, and the old Big 8 to still be viable conferences I would go back in a heartbeat. The only change I would make is to find a way to get South Carolina into the SEC and make it work.

At 51-13 this years team has now topped the win total of 50 the 85 team had.

We are 4 wins away from being the winningest team in MSU history

That 1985 CWS finished 3rd in the SEC.

It was ultimately mediocre coaching not "baseball"

Which is why Polk will always be a self centered failure

I've tried to get some insight from the Michigan guys. No luck from those guys.

Boy, isn't that the truth.
See Texas A&M Baseball 1989.

That photo epitomizes a picture being worth 1000 words.

Another nonsense article from Ricl Cleveland. The 84 team had the same players and was better. The 85 team lost to Mississippi College a Division 2 team. The 89 team was the best in school history and didn't make the cws.

Reading this thread makes me realize how much several of you actually like college baseball. I’ve gotta say I’m impressed by Mississippi State and Arkansas’ fans and hope one of you walks away with a title. I’ll bet there aren’t 10 people in Athens, unaffiliated with the athletic department, that could name a player on any of UGA’s CWS teams.

I feel like this a bunch of us in our forties reminiscing about the glory days of being 12 years old again watching the Cws

Think the guy deserves more credit than that.

Some people think that the SEC has always been a baseball conference.
Miss State was truthfully the first school from the SEC that had an extended period of success.
Some like Alabama had a good year but Miss State, eventually LSU and later Arkansas and S Carolina made the conference appreciate the sport.

For a long time it was Texas, a bunch of West Coast schools and then a few oddballs every year in Omaha.

Think Greg Swindell was on the 1985 team.
Probably one of the best pitchers ever in college baseball history.
That 85 team had a lot of arms. May have been better than Texas in 83 but like I said Miami was good that year.
Beat Texas in two straight to win the CWS.

But Arkansas had a decent team that year.
Had a few future major Leaguers.

7 future MLB players including Swindell. The pitching staff was ridiculous. Most of those future MLB guys were not just a cup of coffee... they were 4-10+ year guys.
