I understand it just fine. And it is epitomized by Tennessee football 1973-present with the exception of the 10-year period from 1995-2004 which saw unsustainable success mainly due to having a once-in-a-generation QB sign and bring success that stayed for several years after he left.

Tennessee won the SEC in 1985, 1989, and 1990. How did they manage that if all of Tennessee's success was due to Peyton? And why do you think Peyton chose Tennessee in the first place? Because they were a dead program?
Again, you're a moron

I never said "ALL" of Tennessee's success was due to Peyton. I said Tennessee football began declining in 1973. Sure there will be some good individual seasons inside the decline, it's not a straight-line freefall.

Who's the moron who doesn't understand the definition of decline. A "decline" can be slow and steady. It starts at a high point (UT Football 1920's - 1973) and eventually gets to a low point (UT Football today). No one ever said it was an immediate free fall or an instant death... nor is it a straight line.

But if you think UT football in the 1970s, 1980s, or early 1990s wasn't already declining compared to the Glory Days of Neyland then you are refusing to acknowledge obvious facts.

We were under major 'ship reductions during a lot of Fatty Fullmore's tenure. We did win the SEC in '99 though.

To go along with the 'ship reductions we had major injuries to some of our best players:

QB Croyle - tore his knee up

LT Britt - broke his leg

RB Castille - tore his knee up

WR Prothro - broke his leg

LB Constant - tore his knee up

Several years during the same time frame we had more than one walk-on starting and numerous others in the two-deep rotation.

Having Roid Kramit as commish also aided the Fat One a great deal.

It probably has to do with Phat Phil being the secret witness to the NCAA.

Years down the road you guys will still be dissing on Lane.

Curious how many times BAMA was penalized for cheating since then?
