Why did the Army allow its uniforms to make them into figures of fun?

I'll take an army grunt or marine grunt with me to battle any day. Have had the pleasure to work with both as an army 11 bang bang. Don't let it shock you, there are POGs in the marines just as well in the army. People act like Marines are general badasses just because they are marines and then I find out the same marines drove a truck on the fob for his deployment. Haha. Yeah okay.

My brother in law did several deployments on the submarines. According to him, there are only two marines Submarines and dead marines. Don't shoot the messenger. Or do it. I DGAF

Let me help you out. He is in he Dress Blues.

His Cover is based on which Division, Regiment, Battalion or Company directive.

He is wearing the traditional Army Blues Coat.

His Trousers are dressed inside of his boots, meaning he is AIRBORNE, a privilege only allowed by Airborne; if you look at that chest of ribbons you see a pair of wings up above his ribbons.

So our uniforms have great historic meaning in how they are worn

P.S. The three ribbons on the right side of his chest are Presidential Unit Citations, rare things. I have one, he has 3.

You hear a lot of about General Mattis. General Gray was bad assed too.

"The utility uniform is a working uniform and not appropriate for wear in a civilian environment."

He was CG of 2nd MarDiv when I was there. This captain went into a bank in utilities. He was seen by a colonel - in proper uniform.

He got commanding General's non-judicial punishment. $1,000 fine and 30 days restriction to quarters.

And a tutorial for Monster.com.

My coastie cousin didn't pay for a beer in an airport for over a decade. At those prices, I'd do it too.

If you mean Military Pose, absolutely Not Military.

If you mean the Dress Blues he is wearing, they carry the style and design in the time of the Horse Back Cavalry. The "Boards" on the shoulder are where rank insignia are worn. The crossed rifles indicates he is in Infantry and the trim color on the sleeves, bordered on both sides by gold trim, toward the cuff - is the color of his Branch, i.e. Infantry Branch - color Blue

The gold stripe on trousers signify and Officer and are related to he original Cavalry uniforms. If you look at the above photo of the other Soldier, you will see his rank in on his sleeve and his Trousers do not have the gold stripe running down the leg. He is an Enlisted Man.

Much wonderful tradition in the Army, all branches of the Armed Forces really.

Even the buttons are symbolic on Marine uniforms.

The Eagle and fouled anchor were the Marine Corps emblem prior to the adoption of the Eagle, Globe and Anchor in 1868.

The Army -- in no way -- has kept its best traditions alive.

You fricked up when you got away from this World War Two uniform.

Captain Robert Morgan in pink and greens.

Oh no! Marines getting drunk during the annual celebration of our creation? The horror! If only the Marine Corps wasn't established in a tavern or something. It's almost like it's a tradition! And frick, we were probably in an authorized dress uniform too. frick!

"The Infantry, the Infantry,
with dirt behind their ears,
The Infantry the Infantry,
Can drink their weight in beers

The Armor and Artillery
and all the Engineers
can never beat the Infantry
in a hundred thousand years."

That is from 1941.

And you heard it from a Marine for the first time, didn't you?
