He was a real prick in MLB. Cursed out kids asking for autographs. Frick him.

I get that, but if you followed MLB baseball, you'd know who "Joey" Belle was.
Jesus effing Christ...why can't you get it through your head? Likely 95% of MLB fans outside of Cleveland and Louisiana didn't know he was called Joey at LSU. And 99% of baseball fans didn't give a shite about LSU...or even SEC...baseball 30 years ago.
We all know who the frick Albert Belle was.
Got it now, ace?

He changed his name to Albert after a stint of in-patient rehab for alcoholism prior to the 1991 season.
So after he had played a grand total of 71 games in two seasons. 62 his first season, and a whopping 9 games his second. During which time he had a monster .220 career average to that point. Yeah...he did a helluva lot to make the average fan remember "Joey".

Do you know who BJ Upton is? You know he goes by Melvin now, right?
BJ Upton didn't change his name while he was basically still a fricking rookie before anyone ever heard of him.

This is no different.
You're an idiot if you really believe this.

Do you ever post without trying to start a fight? Serious question. But if you want to take it there, you being from Murfreesboro and 62 years old explains a lot.

Fight? There's no fight here. You don't have a defenseable position to argue.
Serious answer...when you have to resort to a reply like this, feebly trying to save face when you've been called out for posting in a condescending manner...yeah, you're an idiot.
You're treating a bunch of knowledgeable fans like you think they're illiterates because they didn't know Albert Belle's nickname was Joey when he was younger. Than you keep trying to defend your attitude. It's stupid.
Sometimes it's better to just shut up than to keep trying to save face.

Sure I do. Plenty of non-LSU fans ITT remember that he was Joey his first couple years in the majors

Well, in your very first post yo said I was stupid, so what does that say about your position big guy. And then you double and triple downed with each post, including this one. Good for you. But no, your ignorance does not do anything to refute the statement I made. And it was actually quite funny reading through three different responses that added nothing of substance.

no, not really.

maybe you should take tour own advice bud

sorry for adding 2 years to your age. Not sure what misstating your age has to do with math, though.
Regardless, this was largely a very civil conversation...then you entered, per usual. You do nothing but make adversarial comments on this board trying to stir things up and I defy you to show otherwise. You and BowlJackson are two peas in a pod. You are incapable of civil discourse and you express yourself like someone 40 years younger than you are. Do better.

Who was that he runs over, was it Alex Cora? If I remember correctly he had a lot of Cobb webs in his head for a while after that hit.

no, not really.
Yes. Really. Absolutely. Your whole conclusion in this entire discussion is that anyone who didn't know he was "Joey", didn't know who Albert Belle was. Cases in point:
"...but if you followed MLB baseball, you'd know who "Joey" Belle was. He was a superstar,
"
No, he wasn't. "Joey" was a .221 hitter through a 71 game career.
And then...speaking of "doubling down"...you doubled down with this:
"A 30 yr old probably wouldn't know who this is unless its an LSU fan, especially with OP calling him Joey.
a 30 year old wouldn't follow sports when he was 12-13 years old? And since when did being older than 30 become "old"?"
And yeah...a relatively unknown rookie changing his name isn't remotely the same as established stars like Upton or Stanton doing it. It's a silly comparison.

Um, no, that was never said at any point in this thread nor was it inferred any any post or in any post you have referenced in this post. Try again.

No, he wasn't. "Joey" was a .221 hitter through a 71 game career.
and? Albert "Joey" Belle was widely regarded as one of the top prospects in baseball when he was still called Joey. Whether you choose to accept that or not is entirely up to you.

it really isn't. I'll give you one more. Patrick Peterson, until his freshman season at LSU, was Patrick Johnson. I can guarantee you that plenty of people on this site are very aware that his last name once was Johnson. Would you say a top high school recruit is more well known than one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball? No, but people who follow a sport will know things like this. People who are big fans of MLB would also know that Albert Belle went by Joey when he entered the league, as many in this thread did, in fact, know, and no they were not LSU fans. It's ok if you are only a casual follower of the sport.
Again, all you do in every thread in which you participate, is try to find something to argue with someone about in the most uncivil manner possible. Do better.
