Which defense did Alabama face that was good?

Looks like he's talking about Arkansas or South Florida.

Slightly better with a much easier SOS

Bama played 5 of the top 20 offenses in CFB, including number 1 LSU. 4 if you take out USF, because for these comparisons we often exclude non-power 5. UGA has played 2.

5 best teams in total defense Bama has faced:

10. Aggie
27. Texas
40. Tennessee
42. Miss St
44. Kentucky

UGA:

39. Mizzou
40. Tenner
44. Kentucky
50. Auburn
58. Ole Miss

Well, that's all neat and all but the question was:

So the biggest/best defense has played was Texas A&M and the second best beat them? I am not so sure that Alabama fans should be throwing rocks at the defenses Georgia has played since there is probably very little difference in #40 and #58. Without looking maybe 20 yards a game? maybe a bit more?

It's not like either team has been facing some juggernauts. Even by Georgia and Alabama standards out own defenses are not what they have been in the past.

I've heard that Beck is wanting to make this his coming out party by having a big game.

This actually scares the heck out of me, Bama has by far the best secondary of any team we've played or will potentially play.

If Beck is trying to play hero and forces it like he did against GT we could have 2+ turnovers. If he plays calm and cool I think we win but if he's turning it over we lose easily imo

And the post you responded to didn't imply Bama had faced any good defenses, just better ones than UGA has. And statistics back that up.

I expect Bama to commit to stopping the run.

The Bama DBs are excellent. Equal if not better than UGA (confirmed athletically at least).

But if Bama is committing to the run, what is their plan with Bowers?

And can that plan hold up to bunch sets, twins, nubs, Bowers in the backfield, and motions.

And what does that plan leave for McConkey who is a man beater?

And what does that plan leave for Bell who can win at the X, win at the slot, and win at the RB position? Bell is virtually a 2nd Bowers in his multiplicity.

The Bama back 7 will easily be the best we face all year (even if we play 15 games). But we are a puzzle that is difficult to solve. Bobo (like Freeze) can make the defensive rules work against the Tide.

According to what? Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Auburn are all rated higher on total defense.

Which surprised me because Missouri had been described as a revolving door defense in the leadup to yalls game. Ours had some great games but was wildly inconsistent. Kentucky's defense is coached well and play hard, but has a lot of the athleticism limitations usual Kentucky teams have. Auburn is kind of an enigma, they got super up for UGA and Bama and then shite the bed against other teams.

Alabama beat the shite out of Georgia in the SECCG and was a deserving champion.

But Alabama also had the emotional edge and Georgia players already knew they were in the playoffs and Alabama players knew they had to win to get into the playoffs.

"emotional edge" in an SEC Championship game

Bama had their receivers and beat you. Once their top 2 got injured, they lost. Its not even an excuse by Bammers, the entire country literally saw it happen on the field.

If RaRa and Ladd don't play (or play gimpy) and UGA loses, you'll 100% hear the same thing out of Dawgs on here about Saturday's game. And they will probably be correct if its a close game.

That would be sarcasm from the vast majority.

Every school has their share of bitches who cry over everything that doesn't go their way.

Against four common opponents (TN,Miss,Aub,KY) in 2023:

Alabama scored 134 and gave up 75.

The Dawgs scored 168 and gave up 60.

I know many of you will say that football doesn't work that way, but its almost a two touchdown differential per game between UGA and Bama. Hard to ignore.

I get that you were only reporting statistics, and that is appreciated. I was mainly saying that to the previous poster that was claiming we had not played any good defenses. I mean, it is a true statement, but just seemed odd considering Alabama hasn't exactly played any world beaters, either.

No it isn't. Texas beat Texas Tech by 50. Oregon beat them by 8. I guess Texas would beat Oregon by double digits?

YES, emotional edge. Like New Mexico State had the emotional edge over Auburn and Auburn had the emotional edge over Alabama. It's a big part of football. Players aren't robots. Yet.
