not sure academic reputation has much to do with football. lol

It seems to me all the large state universities in power 5 conferences are the same in academics.

If you polled all 14 SEC coaches you'd be shocked @ how many agreed UGA is the best job in the SEC. Even NS himself has said it is. They've got everything. In abundance.

Alabama is a great job. And the line of people who would take it will be long when the current coach hangs it up. They have had what, 7 or 8 coaches win national titles there, many of them multiple times. And because of the aura and the quality of everything around it Bama football will forever make a big time mark. But Georgia has a built in supply of the primary ingredient necessary to bake the cake, players.

It is kind of weird a coach paid that much by Alabama would say UGA is the best job in the SEC. lol

It draws those athletes looking for more than just a ticket to the NFL. It is something to show parents.

Georgia is a great job. Good school. Lot of in state talent. Cool city.

However, they've usually been in the second tier of the SEC powers for the better part of a century behind Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and more recently Florida. They made a home run hire in Coach Smart, and it will be interesting to see if he can build on the great 2017 season.

Why does it matter? You act as if Bama has not won championships under every single system in existence since the 1920s.

Pre-AP Rose Bowl Championships.

AP and UPI Championships awarded prior to bowls.

AP and UPI Championships awarded post bowl games.

Pre- BCS bowl coalition championship in 92.

BCS National Championship

College football playoff National Championship.

Whatever the rules have been Bama has found a way to get it done. No other program can say the same.

It's the best job by far in the SEC. Alabama is the pride of Dixie land. Alabama is easily one the most popular teams in every single southern state. It's also dead smack in the center of the SEC.

Football matters at Alabama more than everywhere else and that culture permeates throughout. Alabama will attract kids that football matters the most to. It usually makes a winning recipe.

I guess we should stop giving Saban credit then. Seriously, not even close. You are what you are because of Saban.

Actually that is Kirby's biggest selling points. Showing recruits the long list of players he has put in the league. Outside maybe Vandy recruits, most SEC football signees think they are NFL material. And class attendance is a waste of time.

The conversations between players at the various all star camps/games have virtually zero as to what their college educational plans are. Georgia, like all SEC institutions, has a staff of people whose sole purpose is to get guys to class and keep them eligible. If players placed significant value in education they wouldn't be going to Georgia, nor any other SEC institution other than Vandy. Watch for the next Auburn commit who steps up and says I plan to play at the "University of Auburn" the next 3 years.

Wrong. They are what THEY ARE because of the tradition and pride they take in the program. Saban has won less than 1/3rd of the natty's they own. They have 6 or 7 other coaches who have won titles. Georgia has the athlete population and little competition in state. A unique situation. So in the real, modern world that is easily the best job in America.

No, it was response to the dominance of two different coaches. I have used this before, FSU would be the most dominate program in the history of College Football under Bowden ,if he was under the current system. His team finished in the Top 4 13 straight years. The problem was he would lose a game every year (like Saban). But most people felt his teams were the best at the end of the year.

Bowden had his fair share of luck too (hello 93 and 2000). The difference is he only went 2-4 in title games while Saban is 6-1.

RIght now, the Bear is dead and the tradition only helps when you have a coach who can take you there.

Bama from the Bear's last NCship to Saban is not much different than UGA from 1980 until now. Look at how much tradition is helping UTK right now. It's doing wonders for Michigan as well.

Clemson and Auburn raid Georgia, and other programs. ND is supposedly getting players out of GA now.

This is false. Historically Alabama is the top SEC program, but what's being done in Tuscaloosa is also achievable in Athens or Baton Rouge with the correct coaching staff.

Auburn's not raiding us enough. Clemson's gotten a few, but not nearly as many as they'd like. Good grief, we just had a better recruiting class than anyone besides Bama in history.

How in the hell is what Bama's doing possible at UGA or LSU...? This is Bama's 4th or 5th Dynasty.. neither 7SU or UGA have had one yet.

You guys get carried away too easily... its funny as hell tho.
