this team sure FEELS different than a richt team.

It looks different too! Not sure how to explain it, but perhaps more aggressive and more disciplined?

OU fans, no troll, but do you teach your players to not rape and hit women?

Yep, and a bunch of non-Richt players that play a lot.

I'm saying when you lose all of those good players that he didn't recruit or really even develop

Even our seniors have now spent half of their college career being developed by the Smart staff. That's not an insignificant amount of time.

Muschamp had an 11 - 2 season, too, and he was a dogshit coach.

Go look at the scores from that season vs UGA's 2017 season, and honestly evaluate how similar they were.

I just watched Auburn put up 488 yards against Georgia's all veteran, all-star defense.

... and then watched UGA lock down that same Auburn team en route to an SEC title.

Could this Georgia team make it this far under Richt?

Of course this is just my opinion, but I think the real difference is the fact that so many seniors that could be playing in the NFL right now, chose to stay their senior year. They are all Mark Richt's recruits.

I don't think we would have gotten there with Richt.

Yes the upperclassmen piece is huge, but for me the most telling thing looking at this current team is the manner in which they're winning. There is a killer instinct instilled in this team I always felt lacking on Richt's teams. Georgia has not just won the games they were supposed to but straight up dominated virtually every one of them.

Honestly, probably not. As others have mentioned, staleness had taken over Athens. And we wouldn't have had the same players playing. Eason would no doubt probably had started this year as opposed to last. The only 'what if' would be what his development would have been like.

Also, a big upgrade was our S&C compared to Richt's tenure.

As for the seniors returning argument? Who knows if they would have contributed as good as they have been? One of the hits UGA has always taken is the one that we have the talent, but they never pan out in college. They hit the NFL and boom. Thats S&C development.

Most rational uga fans expect us to take a step back next year with our defensive losses. It's like you WANT us to say "we'll never lose again!" but nobody is saying that.

You're about by yourself, in that regard.

The culture now is entirely different than the richt era

Words straight from Gators' lips about Muschamp. Man, oh man.

quote:

Also look at the big contributors on our team this year that came in under kirby's watch, you act like the guy can't find talent.

Roquan (top defensive player) is not Kirby's.
Wims (top receiver) is not Kirby's.
Godwin (second top receiver) is not Kirby's.
Chubb (top rusher) is not Kirby's.
Michel (second top rusher) is not Kirby's.
Carter (top pass rusher) is not Kirby's.
Walker (second top pass rusher) is not Kirby's.
Sanders (Leading intercepting back) is not Kirby's.

But hey, you got a quarterback who averages 182 yards passing a game and I guess your tight end is better than Richt.

Richt never had a team built like this, is there a year where he had 54 juniors and seniors?

One of Richt's biggest issues was roster management. Lack of depth really hurt us in the 2012 SEC Championship (not saying we would've won with more, but we were gassed in the second half and got run over). Kirby has managed the roster fantastically since he arrived and ensured we're always at 85 players. So the depth and tons of upperclassmen is partly due to Kirby bringing in JUCOs and grad transfers to fill empty spots on the roster.

Your entire argument just became laughable. When did Muschamp even win his division much less win an SEC championship winning by 3 touchdowns over the #2 team?

There are like four Georgia posters who were here when you guys sucked last year, it'll go back to that pretty soon.

Well, maybe, if their top RB is out you guys can skate by another team like that. Anyway, you guys take care and don't throw your shoulders out from givin' too many high fives.

I love reading your posts because you write with so much confidence for someone that has no idea what they are talking about.

I still remember your posts calming that Justin Fields will NEVER NEVER go to UGA. I'm also sure you were defending your ex-Shark Coach for in every thread for a while.

Give it a rest, man. You are not as smart or in the know as you think you are.

Muschamp could never field an offense though. He had great defenses but the one thing that was consistent was pitiful offenses. There isn't a single thing you can point to with kirby that is similar. There is not one thing in just 2 years you can say he is deficient at when it comes to putting a team on the field. Not to mention muschamp never recruited like this either.

And you keep pointing to all of the guys that richt recrtuied that make an impact, but leave off the ones kirby brought in.

-Our top 2 (5*) qbs are kirby's as is the next 5* comign in
-3 of our starting OL are freshmen, all kirbys
-Our best TE is kirby
-Our starting RB next year is kirby, a 5* who ran for almost 800 yards as a TFr 3rd stringer
-2 of our top 3 WRs this year are kirbys
-Our return man is kirbys
-Our punter and kicker are kirbys

As for the defense, there aren't a lot of kirby startesr but that's to be expected with SO many upperclassmen. That's not an indictment on him though, and MANY big time contributers this year were brought in by him (Reed, lecounte, clark, rochester, marshall, grant, mcgee).
