Richt got screwed though in terms of competing for a national title

I agree he gets overlooked by people who don't know what they're talking about. Just recnetly (pre-playoff era) 96 UF, 03 LSU, 06 UF, 07 LSU, 08 UF, 11 UA, 12 UA, and 13 AU all lost a regular season game and still made the title game. 02 UGA lost one as well but didn't get a shot. Oh well

Eeehhhhh Idk about that. The 2 teams would come down to CU/OU/UGA, but despite the amount of points our 1 loss was, clemson adn OU lost to faaaaaaaaaar worse teams than we did. Not to mention we ended up also beating that same team. Would be interesting for sure.

Im not, necessarily. In the proxy rankings you saw, they had to use a slightly different rating due to not having the harris poll anymore, meaning they used the AP poll in its place. It would have been razor thin between UGA/OU this year

I think we can both agree, our loss to a top 10 team on the road beats out OU who lost to an unranked team at home.

Likely. My point was, with the playoff system Richts career arch is completely different.

undoubtedly. I mean, rivals always say how bad richt underachieves and can't win big and is overrated yadda yadda...if we complete 1 more pass richt has another SEC title and a national title under his belt and his entire coaching career is viewed completely differently. All becuase of 1 pass being incomplete rather than complete. That's just logically stupid.

UGA would have made the semi finals in 2002, 2007, and possibly even 2012.

A lsu fan acknowledging the factor of luck?!

Wow.

Anyways, it's not a lock we made the playoff in 2007 or 2012. Would have been fierce debate though.

I have also said it makes more sense to honestly judge coaches on win loss records than titles.

Is les miles year in 2007 really a better coaching job that what he did in 2011? No, it isnt, but most will blindly say it was due to the title vs no title

Most of your fans blow a gasket when I say the main difference between lsu 03 and 07 vs uga 02 and 07 was luck. You are a breath of fresh air.
