IMO, UGA should be able to run at will and control the clock. But with the TE's and some decent WR's, I think UGA handles business early and controls the game from the onset and wins by 3 scores.
What specifically brought you to that conclusion?

Based on performance of the last few years and recruiting...I fully expect UGA to dominate the line of scrimmage and be able to run the ball at will. UGA's depth should shine. Defense may not have names you know but there will be a huge talent gap and a lot of experience will on the field that I fully expect to cause Oregon problems. I think this game could look like last years Michigan game.

I think we'll beat ORegon just like we're supposed to beat an Oregon team. No worries here, and should be a good warm up game for the season.

I think we win....if we don't get the big head from last season.
I like Lanning, but it should take him a season or two to get Oregon where they need to be.
Oregon has a good defense (or at least some very good defensive players) and Lanning is a good defensive mind. Georgia's strength will be the offense this season, so it will be an interesting matchup.
I am thinking Georgia by 10.

I think Nix is what he is and that’s not a 5 star talent.
Personally? I think Nix's biggest problem has been development. If y'all have a QB coach that can develop him you could see big strides from him this year. He looked better last season than in season's past, but he had no OLine help and his receivers dropped a lot of passes early in the year. He could very well put it all together this season with decent OLine play. He tends to panic when pressure and tries to make plays when they aren't there.

Early in the season Georgia could still be fitting all the various pieces together for what should be another great team. I think the Ducks keep it within 10 if Georgia has hiccups.
A big factor is that is that its going to be a de facto home game for a fired up Georgia fan base. That is going to cause some issues. If Oregon was getting Georgia at Autzen Stadium, for example, I think the Oregon crowd would have some impact on the game. Getting Georgia in the state of Georgia is a tough row to hoe.

We will have a top 5 offense
I expect a top 10-15 defense
Lanning is a hell of a D coach and can recruit very well once he gets used to the left coast
I expect 41-24 UGA.
We really should not lose a regular season game next season.

What are your biggest concerns?
If your QBs and receivers can take over the game, i like your chances.
We will not be as good defensively against the run on 1st and 2nd down (no jordan davis). So it wouldnt shock me if some teams play underneath against us and just try to move downfield as well (to avoid Jalen Carter and Nokan Smith in their backfield).
But the team(s) that beat us will do so in the air.

That seems like a stretch.

Not when you consider the fact that we have most of our offense back from last season, with some new additions. The same offense that stomped the B1G champion.

I hope Justin Flowe can stay healthy and finally put it all together. His high school tape is up there with Reuben Fosters.

I think -10 sounds right.
We lose a lot on D but the guys starting this season are also products of elite recruiting and last years depth.
Our O will be great. I’d be surprised if they’re not top 5 in the nation with the schedule we have.
Lanning is an outstanding coach. I do believe he will get Oregon to the top but not in game 1. He inherits a lot of talent but I think he has a ways to go to build his team in the Saban/Kirby mold. He also has a lot of familiarity with our schemes and players so think this one is closer than most think.
If I had to guess now I’d say 31-17 UGA.
After this game I will cheer for Oregon against everyone else. I really like Lanning and want to see him succeed.

I don't see it as a modern enough offense to be top 5 in the country. That's a big ask for a team that hasn't had an offense at that level that I remember in the recent past.
Oh, and frick Michigan!

Just out of curiosity, did most Ohio State fans share that sentiment? I think if I were an Ohio State fan I would have been pulling for Georgia. I certainly would have wanted Ohio State to beat Florida if roles were reversed.
I agree with the sentiment of most posters in this thread. The spread will be Georgia -13 to open the season. Georgia wins by about that.

Between Nix being prone to turnovers and Lanning coaching his first game ever. That might be a free 14 pts.
My score prediction because our TE’s are a match up nightmare for every team they play I am thinking 41-14.

Oregon is good against the run. We return 3 of the top 5 interior DL in the PAC 12 from last year including the top 2. Taimani was forced to play 4i at Washington and will play nose for Oregon, so I think he will be better utilized.
Sewell and Flowe are good against the run at ILB. DJ Johnson at 280 and Funa at 265 are good run stopping OLBs.
With this being the first game of the season, I would expect the run game to take a half to get going.
Oregon did very well against run early in the season and against tOSU. The rush defense wilted by end the season when unprecedented injuries piled up. However, last year’s injuries are this year’s depth.

Cristobal was laying the foundation for four years using this model???
That’s the only reason Lanning got the job.

But why? We had a top 5 O in 2021 and we return a ton from that O.

You are going in for a rude awakening this game. Just saying, this isn’t the PAC-12 and our recruiting alone will provide the depth we need to win relatively easily.
We are huge in the trenches on both sides of the ball and our O is even better than last year where we averaged just under 40pts per game
Lanning has never coached and that is very important stat here and Duck are a long way from their home stadium.
