Yep. Best part of the first half by far.
It is obvious to me Ellis is not comfortable with his defense and personel yet. We play a pretty base D and a lot of zone as much as possible. When the other team gets inside our 40 or 35, it is an entirely different scheme. Line stunts, press man coverage, rotating in and out of blitzes, etc.
Tells me Ellis is not yet confident in our personel, coverage, and linebackers to not miss tackles or always be in position on runs.

This is exactly what I see. I guess that's the explanation. But damn I can't fricking stand giving up 3rd downs.

Absolutely right. Confirms the whole "Don't Break" type D.
It's absolutely incredible to me that Frost is not starting in front of Holland. The only knock against him must be that he can't line anybody up

He just isn't confident yet in our overall team coverage abilities to play a lot of press man.
And I don't think we run as many line stunts or blitzes until the other team gets close because he isn't confident enough our linebackers will be able to stop a quick hitter up the middle if we get caught in a line stunt / blitz at the wrong time.
