I'm really sick of these neutral site games. I know they make more money for both schools than a h/h does and that means they are here to stay but I still don't really like them.

I don't disagree. We have to keep Louisville on the schedule of course, but we need to add another decent OOC such as Indiana or Illinois ie some such.

Not sure why going to BYU or Memphis is bad.

Tennessee and Ole Miss are the only SEC schools that should ever play in Memphis imo.

Will be interesting to see if Alabama backs off on the big neutral site games in coming years. With all the neutral site games Alabama plays every year (often at repeating venues), could see demand for those tickets go down from the fanbase (it's already happened to some extent).
Last year alone was:
Wisconsin in Arlington
Florida in Atlanta
Michigan State in Arlington
Clemson in Glendale
Year before:
WVU in Atlanta
Missouri in Atlanta
Ohio State in New Orleans
Multiple big neutral site games every year with big ticket allotments gets expensive and the same locations get some burnout.
I think Saban loved/loves the attention the big neutral site games get with the kickoff classic type games for recruiting (games in Texas, Florida, Georgia no coincidence) and other reasons. But I think that was probably more important towards the beginning of this time at Alabama than it is now. I don't know how the money compares (i.e., which brings in more revenue/profit - home and home or neutral site games).
It's been working well for Alabama so far so probably reluctant to change it up much.

Plenty of MSU fans in Memphis. Plus it's a short drive. I don't see the big deal.

Somebody skeered to schedule home-and-homes with Power 5 opponents.
Frankly Alabama doesn't have to. As long as ESPN is willing to give Alabama the spotlight every season opener and pay whatever it takes, Alabama has no reason to schedule a true road game where it makes zero $ and gains no recruiting advantage.

good list, thanks for compiling.
FWIW we also have a home and home with ucla in '25 and '26

ATL would still have lots of fans due to proximity and such but going to Arlington could get old.

Yeah. Kentucky has such a rivalry with Indiana due to basketball, it seems like it would be a great idea to schedule them every few years or so.
Same with Cincinnati. Kentucky ought to petition the SEC office to allow Cincy to be counted as a power opponent (they already allow Notre Dame, BYU, and Army). Cincy has a solid program. And I think a UK-Cincy football rivalry could be fun.
Being on the periphery of the SEC footprint gives Kentucky lots of options for OOC opponents within driving distance. West Virginia, UVA, Purdue, Ohio State, etc. would all be great series for Kentucky.

You are correct. Added it to the list.

definitely. And the distance between cincy and lexington is only about 20 miles farther than athens to clemson.

We play Umass in Gillete Stadium in Foxboro so that's badass
It would be badass if you weren't traveling to play a non-P5 team.
But you are, so its definitely embarrassing.

LSU will have played Wisconsin and Texas more times in the decade from 2014-2024 than they will have played Georgia.
frick SEC scheduling.

are you counting the 4 or 5 times we'll meet in the SECCG?

it's not; especially for Ole Miss on the Memphis thing
Memphis is a natural and traditional rivalry for y'all
BUT - I don't think it makes sense to play them in their house for any other SEC team
BYU is absolutely fine. Texas did a home & home with them; they have won a legit Natty & they are a respectable program

Wow. Not sure how this could get any worse. In a seven year period, your team will play on the road at UConn, Purdue, Wyoming, BYU, MTSU, and Memphis. Did someone not clue you guys in that you are in the SEC now, not the Sun Belt.
Wyoming and Memphis were favors for former assistants. BYU is P5 level. MTSU will end up being at home after we schedule a Big 12 team (in the contract it switches to us if we schedule Big 12 team. Purdue is a P5. UConn was part of the short notice SEC schedule. Memphis is pretty close to our SE border, we do border TN after all.
Had some issues scheduling teams in the move to the SEC, so we had to sweeten the pot for teams like UConn.
