I used to think Texas or Notre Dame had the whiniest, most selfish leadership who thought they were the most special snowflakes. But I’m thinking now its FSU. Between the massive fit about being stuck in the ACC because they signed a dumb contract and the pouting about the Playoff, yikes. I’m not sure I want that toxic mess in this conference. Second things don’t go their way, they will burn it all down:

So kirby has been more fortunate than others in drawing opponents.

Agreed. Drawing Alabama to win our first National Championship since 1980 was an amazing stroke of luck.

That 2021 season what a time, uga played what two teams with a 50 percent or greater blue chip ratio. 10-3 slap fight against an 8 win clemson and a spanking in the sec title game. I'd say it sounds like quite the mulligan.

Technically, they DID go 13-0 (if you don't count post season).

Then again, is the ACCCG considered post season?

Watch this year's NFL draft. Look at all the guys from FSU who will get drafted. After that go back and see if they played in the Orange Bowl.

That's the team FSU put out there. If their program and players have such little respect for their school, it's a reflection of the team and their own damn fault. The 2023 FSU team got demolished in the bowl game, period.

You can accept that shitty standard if you want to, but I'm calling it bullshite.

No different than the games where Alabama players didn't want to be there. Probably true, but they still lost, doesn't fricking matter why. Still taking that fricking L.

Georgia is the only team I'm aware of in college playoff history that lost their conference championship and still made the playoffs.

But I can think of at least one time where Alabama could have lost the SECCG to Florida and still made the playoffs no problem.

They didn't get screwed, they weren't a good team.

It's always been a criteria of how injuries affect the team. They were barely getting around teams with near .500 give or take a bit.

People try to say "But ohio st". But Ohio St didn't struggle with the 3rd string QB. They kicked the shite out of Wisconsin in 59-0 in their conference championship game, not beating a 5-7 Florida team by 7 and Louisville by 10.

Gump, you do realize that was the SEC Championship ring, not a runner up right, right?

Then why does it say "#2 nationally" when LSU was #1 during the SEC championship?

Seriously?

Technically - maybe. But Alabama is the first and only team that got a mulligan after losing the conference championship and went from that loss to a two-team only invite championship game. Talk about a gimme.

Georgia got the mulligan and still had to get through Michigan (you might remember them from this year) to make it to the championship.

Where Georgia then denied Nick Saban his last shot at a National Title. Per Kirby.

When did this happen?

So you're saying Kirby is 1-1 vs Saban in national title games?

Bama has done even worse, which is not even making the conference championship and still making the cut.

And not just once.

Conference championships are not geared towards deciding who is the best team in the nation. It's just a format for the conference.

In 2011, Alabama and LSU were clearly the best teams in the country, and obviously the SEC, they didn't play in the SECCG because of being in the same division. If the SECCG was about the 2 best teams, they would have and the winner would have went on to the NCG, or perhaps a 3rd rematch if Alabama barely squeaked out a win.

Alabama and Georgia both lost to Auburn the other year. Georgia lost worse to Auburn, had a much easier schedule and only made it to the SECCG because Alabama and Auburn were in the same division. If not for that, Alabama would have played in that SECCG as well, not Georgia.

Just a result of Alabama playing in a tough division and Georgia having easy mode division.

The only significant part of the Georgia stat is just that it's as late a season loss as you can get and generally not a good look going into the playoffs. But like I said, Alabama could have done the same thing a few years ago against Florida, probably 2 different times.

It's not worse, it's just a product of the conference setup and divisions that aren't equal, not an indication of team strength, as I pointed out above.

The conference championship loss is worse because it's a late season loss.
