I didn't watch last year outside the few games Alabama played on CBS. I didn't watch the SECCG and I didn't watch the playoffs either.

I watched the playoffs but nothing outside of Florida, save a few minutes here and there.

I doubt we're alone.

It wasn't how it worked when I quit watching baseball in the 90s. It wasn't how it worked when I quit watching Nascar 20 years ago. It wasn't how it worked when I quit watching the NFL 15 years ago and it's not going to be how it works when college football decides to abandon the things that made it popular either. What you can expect from college football after it's done selling off its tradition and everything that made it great is just another minor league sports team. RIP college football.

I still watch noon to midnight. Watching UF lately gives me a bad headache though.

I’ll put all the BS aside and watch the games like I always have. It’ll be fun watching these multimillionaire recruits fail while lesser known players excel. I’ll just laugh at those who overpay these kids.

Sooner or later maybe those folks will come to their senses and stop the nonsense themselves. Apparently no one can make them do it.

I know I'm far less invested .... sold the Cockaboose. Gave up season tickets. Dumped the Club membership. Withdrew our ..... well, we took back some money that we had given them as well as money they would have received after I die.

But it's not all about the bullshite from the entitled kids these days. I mean, tbh, I'm glad, happy ... giddy even that the kids are making money and are finally off of the NCAA plantation.

The reason we have/are divesting is because I'm sick and tired of the woke bullshite. I'm tired of the woke universities' systems. I'm tired of the virtue signaling. I'm tired of the boycotts and kneeling and all of that bullshite.

I'm especially tired of woke-arse Disney, ABC and ESPN and how much influence that have over everything from recruiting to scheduling.

So frick'em all. If I feel like watching, I'll watch ... with the sound muted and while pausing to scratch my nuts and pet the dog and take a piss and maybe cut the grass .... and then I'll skip through the commercials.

I’ll watch a game Bama is involved in but that’s pretty much it. I’ve noticed the last couple years that I’m not anywhere close to invested in it as I was.

It seems to me it's more been people adding rules and changing things just so they could find a way to beat Saban. And every time it blew up in their faces and the rich got richer despite people like Saban directly warning what would happen.

Overall, we already have the NFL if we just want to watch mercenaries with no real connection to the teams play a bunch of games that have very little meaning until the final few games. College football was better because it wasn't like that. Every game every week mattered. If you lost just once, that was likely the end of your championship hopes, and it was fricking awesome.

What made college football special and differentiated it from the NFL were rivalries and traditions. When those get whittled away, what's left? I assume the TV ratings will be high for a few years while the newness of the 12 team playoff and realigned conferences is still fresh. The new casual fan the TV execs are hoping to catch will stop watching when they realize the on field product is far, far inferior to what they're used to on Sundays.

you mean like Saban lobbying to stop the HUNH for player "safety" when Gus was running circles around his defense?

Not sure why you think that's what the strength of the HUNH was, but ok.

Everything in this country went to shite after 2020.

I never had a problem with players getting a cut...a certain % of ticket/tv/licensed retail sales...say 5% spread evenly among the players maybe held in trust until they graduated or left school. Yeah, the starting QB would get the same as the third string center, but they'd be getting compensated. The "can't afford a pizza" narrative was never true to begin with.

But this transfer portal nonsense is just killer for the game. Players driving around in Ferraris and getting paid...not ideal but fans would forget about it at kickoff.

But letting players arbitrarily transfer for an extra dollar annually is what will kill game.

What? You just said constant rule changes and I pointed out Saban was the one leading the charge for those.

I can still remember when Bama was paying all those players, rims, suits, Tom Albetar cease and desist, cash money flashed, chargers, struggle over with, tweets admitting taking money then deleting them and acting like their account was hacked. And then having to listen to ESPN prognosticate how the players need to be paid and that it wasnt fair for the kids and that they should reap the rewards....all while knowing full well bama was cheating their arse off. Mark Emmert providing cover, Bama self reporting 44 violations including cash payments from coaches to HaHa

Did you think we would forget?

The state of college football can be directly laid at the feet of the alabama football program. You proclaim to be Kings. You destroyed the game in your greed. Congrats on your titles, you fricked up.

I might not like the way things are being done, but I will still be in my Sanford stadium seat every fall doing what I’ve done my entire life. Pulling for Georgia.

It was a joke when people on here used SEC pride as some reason to celebrate the downfall of the Big 12 and PAC 12. It’s funny that the facilities race produced completely unnecessary shite, but we were blinded by school colors and celebrated a fancy special ops building.

Lots of fans were late to the party when it came to recognizing the downfall of the sport.

There weren't any rule changes. The strength of the HUNH is that it doesn't allow the other team to substitute players. You can sit there for the entire playclock and it doesn't matter, the other team can't substitute players. So teams would find a weak spot/player and then exploit them while not allowing a substitution.

Just a gimmick and now nobody ever huddles. So in the end, all you did was make football shittier because you thought it gave you a chance to win.

So basically you are crying because Alabama demonstrated institutional control with cease and desist letters and self reporting violations?

Not even sure what the frick your ESPN crying in the middle of that is about.

To be honest, I think you are a butthurt bitch who needs excuses to cope with reality and your opinion on the topic doesn't really mean shite.

quote:

In reality, what happened was people pushed for the portal claiming teams like Alabama would suffer because they "couldn't force people to stay on the team" anymore. The reality was the opposite. When people warned against it, all people like you would do is this same ignorant bullshite you are doing now.

And when it comes to paying players, same shite. Claiming it was going to hurt Alabama and that's why people were against it. "Everyone can pay now". In reality, Alabama got even richer and has more talent at the school than any point in history.

Meanwhile, the NCAA literally had to make up a rule to stop the cheating Auburn did with Cam Newton. And just like the other title Auburn has, it's just another tainted title that nobody respects. Auburn is the butt of the state.

Good post. I'm currently paying an arse load on tickets, travel, tailgating....I love it but I can sense my intensity leaving

Pay this. Donate that. Can't tailgate here. Can't park here.

It's not for the common folk anymore. Before long it'll be all corporate owned.

We loved the kids who wanted to play for our respective schools. Now it's literally hired mercenaries who may be around a year
