What the frick else am I supposed to say to a team with a 9 streak on us? I happen to be a realistic person. It sucks right now, but it won’t last forever. Went through the same shite with bama for 15 years. This is nothing compared to that.

But LSU is the only Big 6 team Tennessee has an overall winning record against.

Crazy to think that Tennessee was the best overall program in the SEC prior to Bryant.

If Alabama is "only" the product of great coaches (Bryant, Saban, Wade, Thomas, Stallings), then what is Tennessee without Neyland?

So let me get this straight. A Tenn fan is using Bama to brag because they can't use their own performance?

Just making sure I'm getting that right.

Oh, and that 17 year stretch had a grand total of 4 regular season matchups.

Really should’ve ended on Saturday. The fact that Heupel is willing to change his offense says a lot about him as a coach. Tennessee is in good hands with him. I kind of hate it.

Heupel is 5 years in with his own folks now. One has to ask, if not now, when?

The Vols just aren't an elite program

Back when Kirby was at Bama and UGA was winning a lot but struggling to break through that elite tier, I knew that he was eventually going to go home and start a monster. Those first few years starting in 2016 and before he won the natty, I felt the same way. As much as I hated UGA, I could easily recognize that Kirby was not going to be good for us (another rival with a dynasty, just when Saban is on the way out...yay!)

Not saying Josh is Kirby or will be Kirby, but I do feel optimistic that we have our guy. Hopefully we can establish ourselves up near the top and break through within a few years. And not to say this season is over already, we did lose a game but no shame in giving away a game to one of the consistently elite teams in the country, and all of our goals are still ahead of us.

Dumbest shite I've ever read. Yeah lets just fire the only coach we've had worth a damn since 2008, who brought us out of the darkness and into the playoffs. Great idea!

OK, so he's your guy. So when then? You want to sit at the grown folks table in this conference, fine. You need to at least win the conference once every couple decades.

This is the wrong question to ask. The questions is, who is the 100% slam dunk hire that is available and willing to come to UT right now and would be guaranteed to be better than CJH? Firing Fulmer without a plan in place led to the 15 years of suck and being the laughing stock of college football. Why would we set ourselves up for that again?

If CJH ends up struggling to break through for another 4/5 years, it will be time to revisit the conversation. But firing him right now, when he is clearly on an upward trajectory relative to the last 20 years of our program, and has taken us to the playoffs (and currently seems likely to make it two in a row) would be a moronic idea.

UGA went about 20 years without winning the conference, and that was relatively recently. shite goes in cycles.

I remember when we lost to them for an entire decade. When we finally won in 2000 the goalposts came down in Sanford for the only time ever. We then won in Neyland the next year in the “hobnail boot game” for the first time in decades. Series has completely flipped.

Tennessee and Georgia almost never played prior to conference expansion. Pretty strange that state universities from border states avoided one another as often as they did.

And your team couldnt finish in their own "ZOMG ITS THE GREATEST HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE IN THE SPORT" house.

Notable happenings in 1998:
The Clinton - Lewinsky story breaks
Titanic is a box office hit
Madonna is burning up the charts with "Ray of Light"
The world tunes in for the Seinfeld Finale and is disappointed...good preparation for Vol Fans for the next 30 years

I'm just saying, a lot of teams sucked arse against bama, uf and uga, the last 20 years. Literally everyone struggled against Saban bama. And apart from uga, bama, and lsu (and to a lesser extent, uf and auburn), I highly doubt this stat line against uga and uf is unique to the VOLS. Yeah, it's the worst record in the Big 6 over that time period. But it's no secret the program went through a but of turmoil from 2008 to 2022, at the time when various SEC teams were peaking.

He's welcome to post the stat, i'm just contextualizing.

1-9 in the last 17 years. Only one of those games was in Athens if memory serves. 4 Were SEC CGs and 2 were National Title Games. One of the SEC CGs was a national title game, who ever won it would have beaten Notre Dame like a rented mule and 2 of the other 3 would have probably been national titles for UGA.

In that same period Tennessee is 2-15 against Alabama. 9 of those games were in Knoxville. Nary a one of them was a SEC CG and we all know none of them were National Title Games LOL. Ut has a .118 winning % against Alabama in the same time period compared to a .100 winning % against Alabama for Georgia but Tennessee has lost 7 of 9 against Alabama in Knoxville LOL. And the 2 times that Tennessee has beaten Alabama in that span resulted in NOTHING for Tennessee's trpohy case other than life championships....the one win UGA has against Alabama in that period was a national title game.

And finally, head to head, UGA is 14-3 against Tennessee in the 17 year period in question, has won 9 straight and is 12-2 IN KNOXVILLE LOL....by an average score of 32-20 LOL......

yes everyone has sucked against Alabama, generally, the last 20 years, but no everyone hasn't sucked against Florida and UGA

LSU is 14-7 from 2005-2025 against Florida and 4-4 against UGA. Against Alabama they are 7-13. So they are a combined 25-24 against those three schools.
