This is new news to you?

I don’t think he was really given the resources he needed at MSU. Fired too early to really know what kind of coach he is.
You would be right if only it wasn't the exact opposite situation.

I agree with everything you just posted.

Maybe I’m wrong. But there’s one thing I’m not wrong about……my team isn’t desperately hoping for bowl eligibility this season because of a team void of talent.
The talent fell off further after Moorhead was fired.

Getting to a bowl and beating Ole Miss are not goals at LSU, they are expectations.
Clanga’s a rebuild *and* historically a weaker program than LSU, I think their goals are realistic for this year

I'm not joking about Lebby. 6-6 with this team and this schedule means he is an elite coach. Mississippi State's game notes and depth chart this week is depressing. I know its the SID's job but twisting "played 23 games at North Texas and 4 games in mop up time at LSU" into we will have a good offensive line is ridiculous.
I think Shapen is a good QB. He led Baylor to a Big 12 championship as a freshman before getting hurt last year, but he is going to be running for his life. State will easily dispatch Eastern Kentucky, and might look decent against Arizona State (picked 16th/16 in the Big 12), but once the SEC schedule kicks in, it's going to get ugly.

Not sure what that has to do with knowing what kind of coach Moorhead was. He was given an absolutely loaded roster and shite the bed.
In his current HC gig he is a whopping 4-20. We know what kind of coach he is....a shitty one.

He had a better winning percentage than Mullen.

What’s Mullen’s record at his current HC gig?

A quick google search proves this false.
Regarding Mullen, you don't think he could be coaching somewhere like Akron, if he wanted to? Hell, I'd take him at Arkansas TODAY.

I do believe there is truth that Ole Miss made a splash hire with Kiffin and a feeler had been received from Leach. There was a window of opportunity. Unpopular opinion: If Ole Miss would not have hired Kiffin and caused the Leach PR hire, State would be in better position now than they are.
I don’t think that’s quite how it played out sequentially. State was like 30 minutes away from announcing Joe Judge as head coach and then he got a last minute offer from the Giants. Thank gosh for NYG’s stupidity, he would’ve been a disaster at State.
I do know that State interviewed Sarkisian around the same time they talked to Leach. I doubt Sark would’ve stayed for long but I think you can certainly argue he would’ve been a better hire than Leach.
I’ve got no major beef with Leach, I just think he was kinda already at his ceiling with his last team and recruiting deficiencies were about to catch up with him. The one thing I will give Moorhead credit for is he did recruit pretty well, the guys Leach won games with signed with State under Moorhead, even someone like Will Rogers who will forever be linked to Leach was coming to State to play for Moorhead.

He was fired after beating Ole Miss..... also after a bowl game.

Key edit there. But you’re ignoring the bowl game being a loss leading to a losing season.

He said the only thing that matters is beating Ole Miss and getting to a bowl game. His words, not mine.
Yet he is fired after beating Ole Miss and getting to a bowl game....

But that still doesn’t disprove his claim if MSU brass made their decision after the excitement and PR of Kiffin’s hire.

Yet he was fired after accomplishing both in both seasons. Hmm

The fallout of that idiot Ole Miss player pretending to pee on the field can't be overstated. It was hilarious to watch at the time, and many (raises hand) reveled in it leading to an Ole Miss loss when it happened.
However, it really may have changed the entire landscape of the SEC.
If Ole Miss had won that game, as they should have, would Ole Miss have fired Matt Luke. If nothing else, Luke probably survives long enough that Kiffin ends up at Arkansas and Ole Miss hires someone else.
Does State fire Moorhead that much sooner? If so, is Leach the replacement? Possible I guess, but if they really wanted to make a splash hire to match Ole Miss, then they may go a different route. So, no Kiffin at Ole Miss, no Sam Pittman era, no Leach in the SEC...the ramifications of that moment are so massive.
Most people laughing in the moment no longer think it's funny, and vice-versa.

Yeah the butterfly effect would have been crazy. Ole Miss would have hired Drinkwitz. He was who we zeroed in on before Lane reached out.

Too many fans and administrators think that if you get different grass it will be greener. It seems that is often not the case and there are so many examples to choose from to prove it.
