Uh...yes.

I saw multiple post from Bama folks touting him as Saban's successor pre season.

At Alabama he'd be forever living in the shadow of Saban. He could even win a national championship or two and he'd still be seen as second fiddle. That's gotta be a big turnoff.

Uh...no. We were all about him coming back to Alabama as the DC. As far as head coaches go, I think most of us have our eyes on Mario Cristobal as Saban's potential successor. He recruits well, his teams play physical, and he's relatively young.

MARIO CRISTOBAL won't be Dabo, no way, no how!

Should something go wrong with M.C.,maybe U.A.B.'S Clark or U.M.(FLA)M.R.

But, Dabo? No way, no how! He has a history at Bama and it ain't very good(NCAA!) If you get my drift,,,,

"Multiple" could indicate two or three, which hardly makes a majority. The vast majority of Alabama fans have been touting Cristobal and Dabo. Very few want Pruitt for anything above defensive coordinator.

My point still stands. You're misremembering things and it's okay.

Guy takes over a dumpster fire 12 years ago, has a long run of conference championships, two national championships, perennial CFP participant...but the guy has NCAA issues.

And Bill Clark? UAB?

You make Dabo turn it down. If he does, then you look at Sark and Cristobal.

I don't care what anyone says...the lure of adding to the Bama legacy...adding his statue to the walk of champions as a NC winning coach... that's going to be strong for Dabo. No matter what Clemson is...it ain't BAMA and never will be.

If Dabo says no, Cristobol is the obvious choice. That dude can coach, and he's put a ton of his guys into the NFL.

I don't trust any Alabama fan who doubts Dabo's abilities as a head coach after the last six or seven seasons. He's turned Clemson into a monster program that is currently competing with Alabama for tops in the nation. Two or three years ago I thought he might leave, but the man has cemented himself in the job. He coaches in the ACC, he's got an automatic route essentially to the playoffs, and he's recruiting lights out in a league with no real parity. He'd be crazy to leave.

Our fan base has its fair share of dumbasses who don't like Dabo simply because of his personality. They're morons. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together and has been following college football for longer than thirty minutes knows that the only smart thing to do is to offer Dabo however much money you can and make him say no. If and when he says no, then you move on to Sarkisian or Cristobal. And there's no need for a list beyond those two...one of them would almost certainly take it.

Agreed. During the middle of the '17 season, Dabo traveled to T-town to participate in the 25th anniversary celebration of the '92 NC during the UT game. Wish I could find that pic of Bebes and Dabo at HT, Alma Mater has a strong pull.

Cristobal and Sark are both good options imo. Cristobal is doing well at Oregon and Sark is a hell of a coach that has turned his life around in the Nick Saban rehabilitation program.

However, Alabama is crazy if they don't make Dabo turn them down first.

Oh, and frick no to Pruitt. Hopefully he'll come coach defense for us again one day, but that's a big hell no for head coach.

That's exactly what will happen (see Roy Williams at North Carolina).

I can't ever recall a coach with as big of a legacy as Dabo at Clemson leaving directly to go to another school. I think a more realistic scenario is Dabo leaving Clemson to go to the NFL, he fails and gets fired, and then Bama scoops him up. That's the only way I see Dabo eventually becoming a head coach at Bama.

Same sort of moron that caused Bobby Bowden to never coach at Alabama.

I have seen Dabo mentioned but far more Pruitt than Cristobal

No it doesn't.
You guys are talking about em coming as a DC now that his job might be in danger.Nobody thought he was possibly gonna get canned this year.

Haven't "misremembered" anything.

We were talking about him coming back to Alabama as our DC in 2020 when it looked like he was a dead man walking after that disastrous start in 2019. That sentiment has not yet changed.

Former QB? The name sounds familiar but he wasn’t on the official roster in 2015 or 2016.

No, I don't think he ever made the roster.
Josh was a walk-on from San Diego, whose dream was
to play for Alabama. He may be best remembered
for a tweet in 2016 when Alabama only had Jalen Hurts as QB, with no backup in place. He went on
to graduate from Alabama.
@JoshPalet
With Cooper & David transferring & Montana out for the season I'm more than ready to help our team repeat as champions. Roll Tide ??

Not sure I'm a believer in Dabo. I feel like if he were in the SEC, he's probably canned in 4 years.

Dabo has owned the SEC. He's more than proven himself to be qualified for that job. Pruitt and every other dick milker on the wish list of Alabama fans will never achieve 5% of what Dabo has. Go ahead and pass up a proven winner with multiple championships under his belt who's also had great success against the SEC for some slightly above average coach who's never sniffed the playoffs and enjoy watching Dabo continue to accomplish what the new Alabama coach never will...

How in the world was he a "dead man walking" in '19? UT wasn't gonna fire em in his 2nd year. That wasn't remotely plausible.

Just stop it.

Of COURSE you don't wanna admit your fans wanted him as a HC...he's being exposed for what he is this year.Something I've been saying all along.

Maybe the talk was different on the Bama board but it wasn't on here.
