So wait ... lemme get this right.

So you believe that a set age, an age set by society that varies from society to society, an age set according successful completion of a society's primary education minimum, an age set strictly for political purposes but also an age that restricts something as simple as the right of passage into the drinking age .... you honestly believe that age, of 18 in the United States, that age harkens a boy or teenager automatically into manhood and adulthood ... that's what you believe, amirite? And that anyone that knows otherwise .... we're all morons?

You're so wrong on so many levels HJ ... so many levels.

First of all "kids" is not a pejorative. It's typically used as a term of affection, both in this country and most of eastern, western and northern Europe ... although sometimes used to suggest a happy-go-lucky carefree lifestyle free from worry and sometimes lacking the normal responsibilities of every life.

Additionally, reaching the age of 18 DOES not automatically make one a man or guarantee audulthood. As a matter of fact it wasn't until fairly recent history, prior to the democrats making a move to frick everything-up ... that 21 was considered the minimum age of legal adulthood usually having either completed a tour in our military or graduated from an institution of higher learning. The age was lowered to 18 strictly for the liberal progressives to garner more votes ... nothing else.

At the same time the drinking age, even for those kids serving in the military and voting ... was raised to 21.

Now I could go on and on about the differences between sexual maturity and mental maturity and how it not only varies between genders but also from person to person ... and I could defend the OP's use of the word "kid" as particularly correct in this case and your use of the word "moron" as particularly ironic, if not hypocritical, in this case ... but, in your defense I have learned that most D1 P5 football prospects these days are typically more mature both physically and mentally, are willing to accept more responsibility and pressure ... for the most part. Had you made that arguement about the kids then perhaps ... I dunno. I still call my kids in their 30s my "kids."

Oh, and I know of people well into their 20s and even 30s who act as children do .... most of us can claim the same.

There is a difference between using "kid" affectionately or even to address someone much younger in a statement .... vs using the word "child."

You convoluted the two Henry. It speaks volumes of a defensive nature you seem to have with regard to the subject of age and maturity. Hmmmmmmmm ... wonder why.

Just how old are you Henry? 19, 20?

Not as cute as you claiming that someone who chooses to use the term "kid" is a moron for doing so. Not as cute as you being so defensive about what age constitutes adulthood, mental maturity, etc.

"Moron" is offensive ... "kid" is not. You made it too serious too early in the morning.

Can't believe I wasted time reading this thread much less responding. So here are my two cents:

Being a man has nothing to do with a number, more to do with actions.

Any color gravy that includes sausage goes best on biscuits.

It’s like a gateway drug. One sip of alcohol leads to a meaningless life that results in week long meth benders and broken families.

Football is doomed if the incidence of CTE for NFL players is higher than 10%.

Recent autopsies showed something like 90%... There was selection basis on who they looked at, but it's still a huge issue that could kill the sport in the next decade.
