I always love playin South carolina. It's usually a great defensive battle.

Yeah it doesn't matter how excited I am about whoever we have on offense, or which new coaches we have.. after the UGA game.. its like damn maybe our offense sucks or something. (but usually our offense ungulates from being on fire to being totally inept)

Except last year I was like damn our offense is gona own this year.

I agree. I always root for SC. I can tell you one thing that worries me about this game though...it is going to be ridiculously loud.

Probably the loudest place I've ever been in the SEC. Never been to the Swamp, Arkansas, Starkville or Bryant Denny though.

the older Gamecock fans seem to despise UGA as much as Clemson.. some even more

This. As a freshman at UGA in '06, I went to Columbia. Had never been to UGA/SC game before. No offense to the SC fans, but I assumed it'd be similar to a Vandy/Kentucky game. I was shocked by how much genuine resentment MANY SC fans showed toward UGA fan.

You can imagine their exctiment when they beat us in Athens in '07. Rough night for me personally.

As for predictions:

ULL: W (clearly)

@SC: Toss Up
-- always a tough game

Ark: W
-- couldn't beat us in fayetteville during our worst year and couldn't slow down joe cox. I think i've said enough.

@Miss St: W
-- prove it. year 2 under mullen scares me a little. after two tough games also.

@Colorado: W
-- they're terrible. it was a close call in athens a few years ago, though.

Tennessee: Toss Up
-- they've certainly had our number lately. won two of the last three in athens. after two road games that are nowhere near athens, ga. i'll jump off the 600 section wall if da'rick rogers catches the game winning TD.

Vandy: W
-- for the second year in a row, Vandy isn't scaring anybody.

@Kentucky: W
-- lose to UK two years in a row? please.

Florida: Toss Up
-- should decide the winner of the SEC east next year. sure, florida has taken 17 out of 20...but we're slowly breaking down that mental barrier: 2-4 in the last six haha. gators lose a lot of talent this year.

Idaho St: W
-- ummm, yeah

@Auburn: L
-- if we beat AU 5 years in row (3 at Jordan-Hare) after playing for 11 straight weeks, i'll be shocked. rule of odds, they almost have to win this one.

Bye: W
-- finally

GT: W
-- GT loses a lot of serious NFL talent. plus we get a week off to prepare for the option. our 3rd year facing it. I can't see this going well for them.

Thoughts:
-- crucial, crucial year

-- why the frick are we going to colorado? should have used that week for a bye and played another cupcake between auburn and trek.

-- we only have 6 home games

-- most important games of the year: SC and UF. lose those two and we're in trouble. lose to UT and AU and it probably won't make two shits as long as we take care of business again SC and UF.

-- dream year: undefeated, obviously.

-- personal expectation: 10-2 w/ SEC east championship

-- more likely scenario: new 3-4 D takes a while to gel and murray takes a couple games to get his legs under him. we lose a couple early (SC and UT), then come together to lose only to AU and see SC or UF walk away with the east.

-- disaster scenario that has Richt in deep shite: 7-5 with more blowout losses to UF and UT, another year of being out of the east race after the UT game, another upset at the hands of GT, and another year of beating nobody signifcant.

Nice mouth-breather prediction that says a whole lot of nothing.

Is the combined IQ of State fans on this board zero?

Yeah I suppose with the geographic proximity (Columbia-Athens is closer to Columbia-Clemson) + having UGA on our schedule almost every year pre-SC in the SEC + the tough losses to UGA + being independent so many years meaning UGA was a constant team we played as much as Clemson except UGA was a traditional football power.

Now it seems that there is a whole generation reaching or adulthood that hasn't known SC outside of the SEC and UGA is simply disliked just as an SEC opponent. (thats the way I see them anyway)

UGA will lose to MSU. It's funny that UGA fans still think that they are relevant.

UGA, forget about it! Mark Richt always manages to lose the big games. With all the talent in GA, why can't he win it all? What's wrong?

MSU

Don't count Houston as a win. They had a good team last year and didn't lose very much at all, plus you have to go to Houston.

I think ya'll can beat Auburn. It will be hard, but it's possible.

Ole Miss isn't going to be worth a crap this year. This should be a win.
