Georgia was exposed by Auburn as a team benefiting from the awful competition they were playing in the SEC East. They were further exposed by their ex Coach Mark Richt destroying their precious signature win last weekend.

How on earth you fire Mark Richt and hire a guy that had zero Head Coaching experience is beyond me.

Lots of capitalized words in that thread title.

Nevertheless, have an upvote...

Mark Richt had stopped beating our awful competition.

UGA was Richt's first HC gig

If Mark Richt were coaching Georgia this year, we'd have 2-3 losses already. He's been reinvigorated by going to his Alma Mater, wish him the best of luck. Hope he wins a natty at some point in his career, he deserves it.

so if you could go back in time and trade Nick Saban the day before his first head coaching day and Mark Richt on his last Georgia day, you wouldn't do it?

I like Richt, but he clearly hit his ceiling as Georgia HC. Just bc he succeeds at Miami doesn't disprove that fact. Status quo isn't good enough for some of us. Maybe it is for you.

Yes and he replaced a guy who was losing to GT, Auburn, Tennesee, and Florida just about every year. Richt wasn't doing that. In fact other than Florida (and Alabama who nobody has been beating on a consistent level) Richt was beating those teams more often than not. Not the same.

How will the UGA fans feel when Miami makes the playoffs before them?

I'd feel great about it. Miami is my 2nd favorite team right now.

No they won't

Smart is a good coach, and his team is going to be fine. Richt and Georgia needed to go separateGood ways.

Fact is. It's easy to win at Miami than Georgia. They have a massive gold mine down there. Just needed a Ricth type personality. Players coach but one that cares about them and can give them the right tools to succeed. Much like Jimmy Johnson(though not as good obviously).

Good for both parties.

I like Mark Richt. I think he'll do a great job at Miami.

At Georgia, Richt's last SEC championship was for the 2005 season, and his last appearance in the SEC championship game was following the 2012 season.

The SEC East has not been good enough to justify Georgia missing appearances in the championship game for that long.

People don’t realize that Smart has already matched CMR’s best accomplishment since 2012. If we win out, which we should, we would be 11-1. No team here including bama would turn down 11-1, NY6 bowl and an SECCG appearance.

Btw I wish CMR the best, he built UGA back up to a contender and deserves a natty for his alma matter.

What would you call what happened on Saturday? Certainly that was not contending.
