Of course I am sure he keeps the big losers to himself and only talks about and posts tickets for the big winners.
That's what compulsive gamblers do. Been there, done that, happy to spend my money differently these days. :)

He put 1 million on the LSU-Bama BCS rematch and won loads of money.

I don't care who he's betting on or what the spread is, $3 million on a game is fricking stupid
3 million is stupid for you. But when you look at his net worth its it's not.
Is Mayweather going to get excited about winning $10,000 or $100,000 on a bet? No.
Since 2006 he has made $213 million from boxing. His last 2 fights he made 40 million a piece from them. That's not counting his endorsements.
3 million is nothing for him

Opening game of the season, replacing 5 starters on D and a Heisman finalist on O. I could see the game being closer than 14 points. It isn't an idiotic bet.
A couple of bounces and catching Bama thinking they've "arrived" and Mich could win. I think most on this board are either A) pulling for that, or B) setting Bama up for the "how could you let Mich play you so close? comments after the game.
Either way, not a crazy bet. Just as likely chance at that line of winning as losing for him IMO. It's week one. We don't know much yet.

The difference...I suspect that through his Boxing career he has made a lot of contacts with top handicappers and gets alot of "tips" from them.

I still dont know how the betting system works (yeah, I dumb). Does plus 14 mean bama wins by 14?

Imagine it like this:
+14 is like the game starts out with Bama 14 & Mich 0. If Michigan's final score is within 13 points of Bama, then he wins. If it is not within 14, he'll lose.

Yeah, take Michigan and you get an extra 14 points you can lose by and not lose the bet.
Personally, I would take Michigan in this game if I were to bet it. And that has nothing to do with my personal bias against bama. I can separate that and a bet without much difficulty.
This game is a referendum on the entire state of Michigan football. This is their superbowl of the past several years since it will define how far they have come and how far they have to go to be elite again. You can be certain Michigan is looking and has been looking forward and pointing at this game more and for longer than bama. Not saying the game is not important to bama, just saying it is of paramount and unparralled importance to Michigan.
I won't bet the game because bama is better and the could break robinson in half and win by 3-4 TDs. But if I was forced to put money on the game, it would be on Michigan because of the reasons mentioned.

Main reason to bet on Michigan to cover: Young defense more susceptible to D.Robinson's mobility.
Main reason to bet against: Never take a team that is outmanned on the the line on both sides of the ball.

Haven't broken it down, to be honest. But no, I like neither au nor Clemson.
