Perhaps we are looking at this all wrong and this was just a brilliant PR ploy by the President to gain support for UF. Hell, in this thread alone you have fans of Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Florida St., etc, etc, etc, ALL coming together in harmony to support freaking Florida fans on this! Truly a rare moment in SECR history.

I simply can't relate the terminology "gator bait" to any racial problems in this world. Is this a Florida thing? Down here In Louisiana, we generally use chicken for bait. We don't have evil thoughts while baiting our lines. The thought police has gone amuck.

There’s actually a subset of fans that have never liked the cheer because they say it doesn’t make any sense to say Gator Bait since bait is used to catch animals and thus not pro-UF. Maybe they seized on this opportunity.
