It is disingenuous to not note that Boom did not tone it down in the second half of the season. He calmed way down.

Also, the Offense didn't improve but the D did. Boom had nothing to do with the offense.

It's easy to say Boom won't cut it but IMO it's way too soon.

It's also easy to say UF shouldn't have hired a coordinator. OK, let's play that game. Which big name head coach that was available and willing to come to UF with all the big time pressure should we have hired???

Many wanted Stoops from OU. A: He wasn't leaving and B: he's not done well in bowls.

Who then?

Petrino.

Regardless, we'll win more games (As a result of our weak schedule), but we won't be much better.

Wasn't available. He was very happy at Arky and there was no chance he would ever leave there. Just ask the piggies, they'll tell you.

Who now?

We still have better talent than 3/4 of the SEC, imo. No reason to win less than 8 games. I predict 9-3.

Don't need a big name head coach. Just need a competent one.

Your bias is noted. Boom was not a favorite for AYLs. I understand that.

Don't say a damn word about being unbiased. You hate all things remotely connected to UT and you know it.

Besides, Boom was a big name. Just unexpected at UF.

Remember this too: UF has a BUNCH of injuries this year.

I think 8-4/9-3 is reasonable. It all depends on the offensive side.

The defense will be fine. But breaking in a new QB, new starter at RB, recovering from attrition, will be tough, no doubt.

Exactly (~8 wins or so, my thinking). For me, I'm not worried much at all on D, just the biggest focus is on the offense and who will step up.

If anything for next season, I just want them to put out a more competitive unit on the field and even if they lose, it at least shows something. In particular, it was really tough at times the last few years getting trashed by FSU

They should be a lot better just because of the talent they should be able to recruit in state. They should be top 5 every other year and top 10 every year.

I would give Muschamp one more year and if they can't block any better than they did this year I would show him the door.

That's why you're not a coach.

Don't worry about that, we will get rid of a crappy coach quicker than anyone. Too much high school talent in our back yard to put up with mediocrity. UF will be back to the top quickly.

If blocking is the issue shouldn't the position coach be fired?

If the mistakes and penalties don't go down then I'm all for pointing at Boom.

FWIW, Pease is going to have to change his offensive terminology to what's already in place. Boom said it's like 1 person learning a new language rather than 40 college kids with other things to do.

I like that he did that.

What connections does Muschamp have to Tennessee?

Texas' defensive coordinators haven't exactly set the world on fire in their first head coaching job. Chizik had a combined 5 wins in his 2 seasons at Iowa State. His replacement had more than that his first year.

I'll agree that has gone unnoticed as well. I didn't really bother my THAT much to begin with, but the fact that he was able to get some control over himself after the Auburn game I think says a lot about him. The guy does reflect on his own actions and follows through with improving himself instead of making excuses or pointing fingers.

As for Muschamp being in over his head, I still am agnostic this point. Maybe you just have to live in Austin to understand the circus that place really is, but if there is anywhere in the country where an OC or DC could learn to play the off-field game, it would be at Texas. I'm not sure what he is dealing with here, even as HC, would be that much greater than navigating the political shoals in the office during Texas' 2010 season.

Our defense looks pretty good considering it got no help from the offense this year. If we have any consistency on that side of the ball and even modest production, then I think we could win at least 8 next year. I'm not forecasting a trip to Atlanta, but we should be a pretty good team with any offense.

I think Boom gets it, and I think he is great at motivating a team. Obviously, that isn't enough by itself to get us back to Atlanta. He still has to put it all together, but I still have hope. He managed to end the season on high note, even if it wasn't that big of a deal in the context of this season. I'm interested to see how he does next year and still have an open mind.

I will also be in College Station Sept. 8 to help welcome the Aggies into the SEC. :-)

We win 7-9 games next year, and after the '13 class, we will finally be back up to having solid depth and normal numbers.

Very excited about this game, especially after all the crap the Aggie fans have talked since they joined the SEC...

I plan to be there also.

If we can get more consistent QB play and can land Aghlor or Diggs, we'll have a good O. Our D will be fine. I'm looking at 9 games and maybe a trip to Atlanta if things go our way.
