There are arguments with how far Florida has fallen. The potential of the two jobs simply cannot be compared

Florida is a better job than Ole Miss or Mizzou.

But there’s a half a dozen reasons a coach would stay at Ole Miss or Mizzou. It’s not a foregone conclusion that either leaves.

Salary can be matched. Mizzou’s NIL investments are on par with the top 15 or so programs. We’ve poured $350M into the stadium. New recruiting zone in the south endzone is out for bid now. North endzone will be finished next year.

Drinkwitz might think the Florida job is irresistible. He might not. We may never even know. I would guess he would be a second tier candidate. There’s some other people who will have to say no for him to get a chance to say no.

From 1990 to early 2000’s UF was a top 5 program in CFB. A few bad years of Ron Zook followed. In comes Meyer, an Ohioan, who got UF to the top once again. But the 1980’s were not some utopia for UF like some fans on here think. UF is stuck between blue blood and new money

Drink seems too nice for Florida, you have to be kinda a dick here, not mean, but a "nice guy" so to say.

Oh, I think there’s plenty of “kind of a dick” behind the aww shucks routine.

Florida HC is a stepping stone to being a coordinator or coaching G5.

The rise of UCF and South Florida has hurt Florida.

Dude what? How old are you? Florida is easily a Top 10 job (arguably Top 5) in the country.

Definitely can confirm. Been there probably ten times over the years but it was never a place that I would consider living permanently. The humidity is absolutely disgusting

Gainesville is not Palm Beach or Boca. Cost of living is basically the same as ever other SEC school

Yeah their 8-11 record the last two years has really thrown the state off kilter

Exactly. And those coastal cities are the only places most people would hang out or vacation in, anyways. Inland is bad, filled with poverty and drugs and not desirable.

You laugh but they beat Auburn twice in the bowl game a few years ago. Beat em on the field and then claimed a national championship. That is impressive

Not meant SEC towns are especially desirable places to live but I'd take any one of them for $15M a year.

You can have a private plane take you to the beach in forty five minutes to your tropical paradise beach house if that's your thing

Based on what criteria? Does their hiring history indicate that? A top 5 job should be able to hire whoever they want.

Yet they've hired:
G5 coach
Sitting SEC coach with middling SEC record (biggest splash)
G5 Coach
Coordinator
G5 coach

Here’s why the Florida job is better than both of those schools. Recruiting is easier at Florida. Top 3 state for talent, and good coaches at Florida have proven that they can get that talent to that program. No reason why Florida can’t have top 5-10 recruiting classes every season. Ole Miss and Mizzou can’t do that

UF, FSU, and Miami became pwerhouses after AC was in most households(not when invented, but common.hence the talent in high school talent got a ton better),recruiting got much easier. Very simple to understand, not sure why people have a hard time processing this at all...is very, very simple. The schools in Florida were pretty bad till AC was commonplace. Simple sometimes is the best answer.
