It might not be "fair", but who gives a toss really? I like seeing Florida and LSU go at it every year. It makes it all the more exciting that they have been the two SEC powerhouses of the Decade. Don't you think Federer and Nadal relish playing each other? Sure, each would win more if they didn't have to play each other and they usually don't meet until the finals- but that is a seeding system designed to keep them away from each other. I want tough competition every year. I love having to put it on the line mid-season. It makes making it to the end that much more sweet. And if Florida and LSU both do their jobs, they will meet in the SEC championship game. I LIKE IT. Can't wait till Saturday.

I hear ya. Tennessee will be back up and strong again and I want Bama to play the best again. I am surprised we never played them 2 times in all the times we've gone to the CG. Rivalries are what make college ball, and while I know that some schools don't have true rivals in the sense of the word, doing away with those that are there are detrimental to the game imo. Like another poster said about the Big 12, that ruined decades of rivalries doing what they did and takes the fun out of it.

All I hear out of you is
:wah: :wah:. Programs rise and fall, LSU and Florida will be down one year and somebody will start crying because they have to play Georgia or Auburn when they're the best team in the conference. Your permanent opponent happens to be the "it" team in college football right now, but Tebow will graduate and things will level off, then Tennessee or Georgia will be the "it" team and ya'll will be jumping all over Bama or Auburn fans because we'll bitch about having to play the best team every year. Get your panties out of wad and change your tampon.

I love the Florida game every year, win by 20 or lose by 20. It is as close to a real rivalry game that LSU has, and if we have to take a loss every other season then so be it.
I feel like this would be a cop out if LSU did not want to play this game every year, considering our OOC games are not exactly the best in the world.

Yep. Bring on the competition. Thank god our team is playing to the opponents level (just) this year. It's the fight and the scrap that make college ball great. I'm also glad that Bama is back. I love to hate Bama. I've softened this year because my niece has become the first gump in our family due to a fantastic scholarship. So while I still hate them, it's with a familial relish. Saban did great things for our program and now he's doing great things with Bama. Come on Auburn- keep up the good work. I want them to be good when we smack them. Between Bama, Auburn, and Florida on our permanent rotation, we will have to work hard and play hard. LSU is about the fight- don't take that away from us. Who wants easy? Not me.

Problem takes care of itself. Who ever wins the regular season game knocks out the other from making it to the SEC CG. I don't think we will ever see an LSU/UF rematch in the SECG.

Does anyone here remember the 2004 Auburn team that went undefeated and got left out of the BCSCG? The winner of LSU/FL gets such a big boost that it makes up for any unfairness.

Tradition matters. The Alabama-Tennessee series has determined more SEC Champions than any other pairing. The Auburn-Georgia series is the longest-running series in the SEC. To disrupt either simply because LSU and Florida don't want the burden of playing each other every year is completely ridiculous; to suggest doing so makes you a whiner.
If Nebraska/Oklahoma could stop the annual rivalry when the divisions split in the Big 12, so too could Alabama and Tennessee. Otherwise, rework the divisions.

So true. Nebraska and Oklahoma was the most significant game on a national scale in college football from the 1970's through the 1980's. The Big 12 was looking at the fair way to schedule, and they did what was right.
Bama, you would still play Auburn every year. You would still play Tennessee, just they would rotate on and off your schedule. You could still play each year if you want, but in the years that you would have rotated off of the SEC schedule, count the game as a non-conference game. This year is a perfect example of the advantage for some teams. Let's say LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss all go 1-1 vs. each other. But then LSU plays the #1 ranked team and another top 25 team from the East that is also counted on their SEC record. Meanwhile, Bama and Ole Miss both don't have to play those two ranked teams. Obviously, Bama and Ole Miss have an advantage in trying to represent the West in Atlanta.
While you're at it, you and Tennessee need to quit trying to outbid each other for the top recruits, and harrassing the each other at media day. That's just as embarrassing as the cell phone #'s from LSU fans.
