Auburn, Uga, Tenn, etc all copied it from UF
Same as LSU copied Tigerbait from Gatorbait
Just how all the they all copied each others mascots: uga and miss st bulldogs, lsu and au tigers, ole miss bears

I hate the chant but it does sound better to say Tennessee then some of the shorter syllable names. You don't have to stretch out Tennessee to make it fit. Again, I don't like it but at least its not like people copying the "We are Marshall" chant.

I don't know about LSU, but Auburn fans were saying "Tiger Meat" when I was a little girl and went to my first game on the plains in 1959.

Yes, believe it or not, parents took their children to football games in the 50's, just like they do today.

Glad to know Auburn invented everything. Kinda like playing "Glory, Glory!" and putting hedges around the field, huh?

Alabama starting doing it too. I can't stand all these generic cheers and songs.

Ohhh...I forgot those two. You bastards at GA stole that as well.

I don't know who started it but I remember leaving the Swamp with my son on my shoulders singing it, win or lose.

I am pretty sure we do that shite just to piss of UGA fans. Its yall's fight song so I doubt you will hear anyone claim that Auburn started it.
Tiger Walk- Auburn's
Yelling during kick off (War Eagle, Raw Tahd, OOOOUUUUUU, etc.)- Auburn's
I think thats about all that Auburn can claim.

After asking on one of the Gator insider boards I'm a member of, the earliest anyone could remember Gator fans doing this chant was 1961, and one poster's father remembered it back as far as the 1940s. I know that's not as authoritative as many might like but it goes back at UF a long time.

I don't think there is a definitive answer. I have heard from my grandfather they did it in the 50's when they weren't winning very much.
I do know, UF gets credit for it nationally, and most schools that do it in the north give Florida credit and it constantly gets referred to on ESPN and others in reference to UF.

That video was taken well after the 1940's and 1960's. Those are late model cars. Video Fail.

Ah, but the giant man-eating teddy bear and giant pigeon were extinct by about 1965 or so.

To the poster that said Alabama started doing it, can you honestly explain how that works?
It's great to be an Alabama Crimson Tide?

A little off topic, but have any of you seen Iowa do the Gator chomp. Mass confusion when we played them in a bowl game a few years ago. They actually tried to argue we stole the idea from them.
