Seems popular to downplay our chances in case we lose. I hope/expect to win.

Both teams are going to be antsy

Arkansas is pretty antsy on the road as it is and, as you said, it's the first conference game so will be even more so. We could very well lose this game.

Yep, it's going to be sloppy.

Let's add up the total score of both the Arky and A&M football and basketball games and whoever has the highest number is dlclared tthe winner of this non-rivalry until baseball starts?

We are not a well-coached team

No way you guys should have let Turgeon go. He would be the 3rd best coach in tSEC behind KY & FL.

Bill Byrne does things on the cheap. He wasn't going to match what Maryland paid him. He wouldn't match Arkansas or Kentucky for Gillispie...why would he match Maryland for Turgeon.

He only overpays for BAD coaches. That's why he's no longer our AD.

You guys upgraded when Gillispie left, guy is a walking disaster and a horrible human being, I'm glad Frank botched that part of the coaching search.

He would have made decent hire with Altman, but then Altman was not going to be allowed to bring in his academic support staff for some reason so he left, John White thought he was such a great AD...

There's always a chance when you keep score.

He's a good coach, but:
1) At A&M, he was bounced in the 2nd round 3x and in the 1st round once. At Wichita St, I think he made the S16 once and then the next year, when he was supposed to have his best team, missed the tournament. He's just not worth 2.X million/year (a top 15-20 salary in the NCAA or so), which is what Maryland is paying him.
2) He never liked A&M and really half-assed recruiting while in College Station.
3) Dude was a whiny bitch and nothing was his fault. He constantly complained about fan support despite the fact that he lost the grand majority of the big games he played in, our offense was watch-paint-dry boring, and our attendance numbers weren't awful anyway (in the 30-35 range nationally I think).

Once we get settled into the SEC and all that extra TV money starts pouring in, I imagine we'll go hire a big name for 2+ million

You do know that his ENTIRE STARTING LINEUP went down with season-ending injuries between November-January of that season, right?

Nope, I had no idea. Doesn't change the overall point though: the dude has one Sweet 16 and a few second round appearances in his career and he's one of the 15-20 best paid coaches in the country, which is kinda dumb.
