Not confident at all with Horvath or Rubio on the mound.

Florida won by 1 starting their 2nd best pitcher against a guy that's got 14 innings of pitching on the year.

The "against a guy with 14 innings on the year" is a side note, so it gets wrapped by commas.
Wrong.
It's a complete statement, therefore it doesn't require any commas.
He is missing a period though.

Ok. But how, minus my first missed comma, was it so horrible?
Think I nailed the commas there lmao.

I do have a legit gripe on the missing period. Who actually places one in the title?
I actually enjoy this convo.
I took too many English classes for me not to write correctly.

I maybe wrong here, and I'm cool if I am, but I think it needs commas because you can pull that prep phrase out of the sentence and it's still a complete thought. It would then be:
"Florida won with their second best pitcher by one"
The "against a guy..." is just a preposition phrase and should be surrounded by commas.

I actually think the comma should be before 'against', yet I still think the 'by 1' is fine. JMO

Ok jeez lol..it your title wasn't that bad. Is that what you want to hear?

I'll stick up for him. It wasn't bad at all, and conveyed the message easily. I certainly didn't understand the hate for it. Especially by message board standards.

Well, it was called horrible English, so I happen to take issue.
If the argument is a preposition, and the use of commas, then I take offense to the description of 'horrible'.
We are now talking detailed issues, when usually misspelling 'their/there' calls into the word 'horrible' regarding English.
So whatevs #letitgo lol

And no mention of refs anywhere. That's gotta be a first.

Did they use their best pitcher tonight?

No.
Which is why the phrase 'on paper' was used.
But bump if you like.
I've only given congrats to Florida.
