2 days ago Mateer was a Heisman lock, and OU had the best defense in the nation.
Get a grip.
Get a grip.

DeBoer couldn’t figure out Venables last year. Let’s see if he can this year, but I suspect he’ll have some of the same problems.

Don't be too quick with that trigger. Once Venables takes control of Castle Greyskull, all of Eternia will be at OU's mercy.

Holy melt!! Can tell you are a fair weather bandwagon fan.
Its not all doom and gloom. That game was there for the taking. Tx was mostly shite down in first half. But Mateer should never have started and should have been pulled at halftime. OC also called too many high gamble plays once we drove down field and you can’t throw away plays vs a good defense. Better playcalling and qb play and thats 14 points not 6. Better coaching before half and add 3 more its 17-3 at half and a whole nother game.
Then to start 3rd we had tx backed up in wnd zone on 3rd and long and a defender busted plus tx made a good play to get the first. Stop them there and we get ball already in fg range and tack on more points. Now at least 20-3 or even 24-3.
And after all the mistakes we were only down 13-6 before the punt with over 9 minutes to play.
Sucks to lose but have some perspective. We shot ourselves in the foot, and played bad. Mateer took zero practice snaps with first team all week which is on coaches for starting him. Should have started Hawkins and seen what he could do. Short passes plus Hawkins is a better runner and worse passer but short passes are like a run.
We’ll bounce back. OU is #6 in SP+ and still has a great defense. Get some better play on O and we’ll be back in business. I said 9-3 before season and still have 9-3. That will give us a look at playoffs with our schedule.
It won’t be easy but likewise it won’t be easy for our opponents either.
Fire the coach and lose all your recruits too. Arbuckle will be fine and after season BV needs to let him fill out the assistants on O side of ball.

It’s only a matter of time before Oklahoma fires him and then starts the full downward slide to irrelevancy like Nebraska.

No way more excuses for Venables (why do some OU fans love this guy?)
Who cares about our terrible recruiting class, just so we can go 6-7 every year? Indiana doesn't seem to worry about it.
I bet the people who wanted James Franklin fired were called "fair weather fans" until he lost 2 more games
You dont get "magical fan points" for sticking up for a lame duck head coach
Wait until OU loses 5-6 more times and we will see what you think

OU hasn't scored a touchdown vs Texas in 3 GAMES!
Yet some OU fans love the guy
I just dont get it. Venables has proven himself to be a terrible coach
Here come the excuses,"oh we were so close" "if this break happened, if that break happened" "Ohh it was the refs"

I was thinking his seat definitely might be warming up after that loss...Especially after bringing in an OC with a ready made QB, and it still didn't help.. Some guys are just cut out to be good Coordinators and never head coaches...It's weird how that works.
Venables seems like a good dude, he'll be alright no matter what. Some blueblood somewhere will pick him up as a DC...He reminds me of Duane Akina at Texas, great DB coach that puts loads of dudes in the NFL, but not cut out to be the head guy...The players love him though and play hard for him.

We havent scored a TD vs Texas in 3 games yet we have these supposedly "loyal" fans who are fine with going 6-6 and losing to Texas every season
