Finebaum is touting his Alma Mater, UT again. Paul is Vols to his core but he may be right

this time. He was frothing at the mouth about the return of the big Orange a few years back under their ex cheerleader coach and actually picked them to win the SEC. But Pruitt is a different breed of cat.
Finebaum touts him as a knockoff of Saban but he is a Paul Bryant guy. His dad was a hell of a coach and very close to Bryant. He played for Boots a couple of years @ Middle then gave up his scholarship to walk on at Alabama and be coached by Stallings and his position coach was Bill "Brother" Oliver. Two hard core Bryant diciplies. JP can recruit but he is also a hell of a motivator. And a tough, old school Sand Mountain son of a B. I hated they hired him but I had a feeling Fulmer would pull the string and he did. Good for the league and southern football.

Everybody seems impressed with GA and Jaime Newman but I've seen him play against good defenses and he looked very ordinary if not ineffective. Fla, get out of here! What they got? All-Americans? All-SEC 1RST TEAM? Can you be them off the top of your head?
Tennessee has everybody coming back. Off line will be a beast and they're well coached on defense.
Good special teams and added depth that has been sorely lacking in the past.
Give Jeremy the time and Tennessee will be back! All the way back! And as I stated before, "A THORN IN GA & FLA'S SIDE!"

Finebaum isn't a "Bama fan." He just knows how to rile the base and reel them back in better than any guy in the market. That fact + Updyke is the reason he made it to ESPN.

LOL! Paul made his bones blasting Alabama @ the old Birmingham Post Herald. They even had a section of the sports page where mad Alabama fans could write nasty comments to him called "Fussin' with Finebaum". The Auburn fans loved him of course at the time. Then he took his anti-Bama thing to a local call-in radio show. And ridiculed Bama fans and the program even worse. He is a UT grad and they/he hated UA!
BTW Mike Slive tempered it(his hatred of UA) down and made him famous by getting him to be pro-SEC. He even made the peace by getting UA to allow Paul to be the honorary coach of one of Bama's two A-Day squads (your photo). But when he first started his radio show his favorite guest was the gay UT booster who bragged about paying players at Tennessee and even had a hot tub where he would entertain them. He lost the number one linebacker in the nation for UT by bringing him on live from his home where he pitched a party for him and got him drunk and had him commit live to UT! The gay guy got UT in some trouble. The kid wound up @ Alabama! What a time to be alive back then!

Tennessee, Texas, & Nebraska are all has-been programs that will never return to the levels of success that they've reached in the past. The highest any of them will ever be ranked is in the preseason poll before yet another 5-7 season

UT finished the season pretty strong, horrible start. The Bama game should have been close. A lot of blatant calls in that game. Specifically the personal foul where the guy used the QB to lift himself so he could get on his feet after a sack.
