He hates Alabama with a purple passion but he loves money. Guy is some kind of genius. He was paid peanuts at a now defunct B'ham newspaper as the lowest paid sports writer. Hated Bama so he took after them with the passion of a left wing zealot against Trump. And he and the Bama fans went at it with hate filled rhetoric. UA fans demanding he be fired or they would never buy another paper. Instead of firing him the paper started a "Fussing with Finebaum" section and radio show to promote the paper. He dogged Alabama with a very real hate that was part and parcel to the UT-Alabama rivalry. And parlayed that into a "name". He even set up the most idiotic callers to his show and paid them to call in daily. To show his disgust with UA and then drug AU into it when his shows became popular.I know him.....lol!

Finebaum went after the Alabama Establishment, but it had nothing to due with hate toward the school or its fans. He hated the arrogance of Perkins and Curry (especially), he went after the "good ole boy" system that allowed Dubose to be hired. And he thought Fran was a phony and Shula was over his head. In hind site he was on target about all the above. He respected Stallings for the person he was, but questioned the style he was winning with. He sucks Saban's dick and has well before he was successful at Bama.

He is very close to Bama Power Brokers and they use him to get their message out. Anyone who thinks he hates Bama is either a fool or trying to blow smoke up peoples arse.

In other words he went after the state that made a $2 grand a month, end of the line sports writer a mega millionaire. And Paul went after Perkins arrogance as compared to Dye's? Curry was a complete pussy. And Nick Saban's? And you talk abut establishment and arrogance, that was epitomized by the little banker with his name on Auburn buildings. Lowder "owned" Auburn University and it's football program. And not a word from Finebaum. Not sure if we'll ever see that sort of ownership and sideline arrogance again.

Of course he was going to find fault with Bama since that was the object of his vitriol. He found none with Philip Fulmer, who likely was the biggest recruiting cheat to ever coach in the SEC. Before the worst and most corrupt program in the SEC (only Urban Meyer's UF program compares) blew up in his face. Ever heard of the Fulmer cup. Not much because this was Finebaum's love. They had A Fernandez types before the Gators went that route.

Edit: And add this....for a time he (BL) also owned Finebaum. The SEC and his dearest friend, the recently deceased ex-commissioner bought that interest out however. Mr Lowder never gave anyone anything. He always demanded and got re-paid with interest. Paul is a slick operator and everyone's hat ought to be off to his survive and thrive skills. He is, as I have said, what we all are, a me fan. But after all that he is a fan of UT in his soul and whoever is playing Alabama.

Airbnb, what does that have to do with anything. He can know the Pope, but it doesn't make him Catholic.

It means that his information/insight/comments are a whole lot more likely to be on target than those of a short-sighted, fanboy like yourself....that's not too hard for you to comprehend is it?

Jim is obviously passionate about what he believes he knows. His thoughts would be more interesting if each post was as coherent as his second in this thread.

I don't write some people's reading. Tend to go in quick short shots. So if you don't have some sort of knowledge of what the topic is you would be a lost ball in high weeds. OTOH, some folks just don't want to hear the truth so they cop a plea. Not you I'm sure.

You do not know anything about my connections to AU. I will tell you I know former Players, current players, former BOT members and current big dollar donors. What you and your "Auburn Friend", fail to understand is that there is more factions at AU than any other school in the SEC. You had a President that let the Athletic Dept do their own thing, a BOT that was hand tied by its past and an AD that took orders from a few people who most of the alumni/fans didn't trust. The slate is clean now, so tell your Baptist friend that their is a new Pope at the Vatican.

Read the post again, we were talking about Bama and Finebaum. You were the one who went off on a tangent and brought up his connections to Auburn. Hell, I felt sorry for you when you lost your train of thought, but I thought I would respond to your ramblings. You OK ?

Well, I like you just fine jimdog and that's all you need between my buddy Chicken and me ... we've got your back.

Seriously though, you do make a few good points although your thought-structuring is somewhat lacking and your basic grammar is atrocious but your heart is in the right place and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us.

If I may? You may be placing too much value on Finebaum's show, his presence even, as a TV and/or radio show host. He has very very very little impact on recruiting or fund raising or anything else quite frankly. He's just not that important. He does not do prospect interviews. He does not do investigative reporting. He's strictly a purveyor of niche entertainment. He is basically a willing platform for a few Bama, Auburn and one or two UGA and UF rednecks to publicly show their ignorant asses ... oh, and Millie from Missouri is just sad, God Bless'er.

So the bottom line question for you is, why even care about what Finebaum does? What's your point? How is Finebaum's schtick upsetting the balance, tipping the scales, one way or another in the conference?

Bringing it all back to the OP...being born in Tennessee, Morgan Freeman must be a huge Tennessee fan.

Didn't you bring up the idea that he could be a "DA Bammer"?...hell yes, and I let you know that the guy had more Auburn (and other) connections than you'd imagine....nothing wrong with my train of thought...you wearing that new shoe?

OK chicken man. LOL @ your advise on sentence structure, thought flow and other complete and utter BS. We are on an ignorant azz sports talk, graffiti exercise. Signifying not a damn thing except we are all mentally masturbating to football, politics and anything else that flips your skirt. I met freaking Finebaum years ago, just another dude, and that's how I know of his fandom and I like to correct the ignorant occasionally. Better question would be why are all these jay birds desperately trying to make a Tennessee fan into an Alabama fan.

As an aside some lost ball in high weed announced to me he was "AWARDING ME NO POINTS" on a previous inane subject. Hopefully that won't be one of the credits listed on my obit.
