I’ve thought about this over a couple of beers and realize that if you dumbasses were for some god forsaken reason to go to bevo 12. I’d still root for you anyway over texas.

Florida would be the best analogy as they have even more major league sports teams than Missouri does.

But at any rate, there is some truth in what he says. There weren't any major league franchises (NFL, MLB) in the South prior to the 1960s. Not the case in Missouri. It's one of many reasons college football is so huge in the South. It really was the only game in town for a long, long time.

And a lot of old timers across the mid South are Cardinal fans because back in the day KMOX out of St. Louis was the only game in town for MLB baseball on the radio. Before the Astros, Rangers, Braves, etc.

There's a vague "The Jerk" segway to be made from that but I'm too tired and lazy to go there...

Do you think SunHog has discovered his "special purpose" yet?

I didn't realize you're a minority. Society tells me to be nice to you. Screw that, lets talk shop because we are on work time.

Last time I checked, the Big East television market is significant. And WVU is the only game in their town, so to speak. They enjoy the distinct lack of competition from other sporting interests, sort of like...Arkansas.

Provide me links of that significant BigEast TV deal that was awarded to WVU which never could be matched by the Big12.

Horrible Argument. Mizzou has 6 million people which doubles Arkansas and you can't even pull in a decent Revenue budget.

quote:

OK. Again, I would theorize that Arkansas revenues would not be where they are had they not moved to the SEC, and that Mizzou's will go up significantly after a few years in the SEC.

Missouri will get more revenue from the SEC and spend more on travel costs. Arkansas gets more from the SEC and spends less on travel costs while having a much larger revenue stream outside of TV money.

Umm.. Yes we do. We started expansion by leaving the SWC.

What the heck does that have to do with anything?

quote:

The Big12 now is not the same Big12 you left and won't be if FSU joins.

You're right--it's worse. Your "if FSU joins" is a huge caveat; moreover, the conference is still stuck with the likes of Iowa State, Kansas State, Kansas (they bring hoops; nothing more), Texas Tech, TCU, and Baylor.

quote:

Texas is awful no one is debating that.

End of thread.

quote:

No one is going independent that business model died this past year with expansion.

I was joking.

quote:

The Big12 needs FSU and Arkansas to obtain SEC level therefore Arkansas has a lot to ask for to even consider. Jeff Long can easily play both sides wanting to the LSU game to stay on Thanksgiving weekend.

Good Lord, get over yourself. And no offense, but the B12 bringing in Arkansas & FSU (not going to happen) still wouldn't make it "SEC level."

This is pretty much what Im getting at. There is a cultural shift happening inside Missouri towards Mizzou athletics and football in particular. The SEC move is spearheading this movement without question.

Im not trying to get into a pissing match with some of these morons because it really doesn't mean anything at the end of the day it just is the reality in Missouri coupled with a poorly run AD since the late 60's until the late 90's.

I expect Texas A&M to be a force in the SEC in 5 years... they have the money, faciitites, fanbase, etc. to do it.

Heard it my entire lifetime. Recruiting is regional throughout the south regardless of conferences. It's about coaches and facilities. Everyone else at least doesn't have a military stigma and Male cheerleaders to overcome.

quote:

There are no schools that could replace UGA, Florida, Alabama, LSU.

Texas, OU and Notre Dame. As for the regional area of the SEC, no they could not. We aren't talking about those schools.

You do realize UGA only slightly made more ($1M only)than Arkansas in Gross and less in Net, right?

You realize Arkansas games has twice the TV audience than UGA last year, right? It shows you Arkansas is in the same league with a smaller fan base.

UGA is a old power and will stay there because the state is large and the dominate school with a huge rivals with Florida.
quote:

Ya'll have passed the bottom dwellers. You haven't passed the big guys. Look at Total Revenue, not profit. You are at 7th, right above the bottom dwellers and USCe.

You won't pass the Big Boys. You will just equal. When Arkansas finished our expansion we have the the most skyboxes in the SEC therefore generating Alabama type money. Alabama will continue to produce more because their general tickets are club pricing level.

Because they suck. Tampa Bay & Jacksonville are right down there with the Rams in worst NFL attendance.
