I'm a fan of turf. Looks better and plays noticeably better.

Definitely is there... All the way around it...
It is either 3 or 5 rows of blue bricks in a zig zag pattern near the top that create the overall look of small rebel flags. Can't find a picture of this online...
Always heard it was intentionally done like this back when I was in school there... No idea if true

You've got to think they school would have it removed though if it were true.
It's funny how when SEC schools hire grads from other SEC schools to do work on their campus, something always goes awry.

It looks better during the end of the season and is cheaper than regular grass. That said I despise calling games on it because the heat radiates off of it and the little pieces of rubber get all over you.
Mizzou, Arkansas, and Kentucky are the only schools that should ever really have even considered it IMO.

Instead of field turf, Alabama re-sods every year with grass grown in Baldwin County (near Gulf Shores). The south endzone expansion keeps a good portion of the field from seeing enough direct sunlight after a certain point in the year and subsequently needs to be replaced.
At a cost of nearly 500K/year to replace, it is still cheaper than a field turf surface if you consider those things have to be replaced every 7-8 years or so.
Football is supposed to be played on grass. When BDS went to grass from the old Astroturf, I rejoiced.

I hated playing on it. I would always get the little rubber bits in my mouth.

Natural grass FTW. Thankfully LSU's field has looked great the last few years.

Agree, in the afternoon it is a good 10 degrees hotter on field turf than grass. OK if your playing in 50 degree weather but not in the deep south. As for the looks, yes my living room carpet looks better than any stadium grass but I don't want to dive onto it with bare elbows or knees..

Field Turf = fake Christmas Trees.
It is just wrong. Wrong in every sense of the word.
I'd rather see a team play in a mud pit than on a glorified rug. Football Blasphemy is what it is.

We tried the natural grass thing after getting rid of the cursed omniturf we had for so many crap games. Tough to get it to stay in our stadium, even with proper motivation and planning. Yankee weather and bedrock under the field make it tough.

We had it at Troy. I think it was installed prior to the 2004 season. The red in the endzone a was added later but all the hot sun in south Alabama faded it to pink. They put something new in this summer. Not sure what brand but I think they didn't use Field Turf this time. And the only paint is white now.

Glad Spurrier removed Doug's rug before we played a game under his tenure. Just another stupid thing Dickey did. Must have grass in the Swamp.

Doubt it will be an option to get rid of it. It saves a ton of money in maintenance and it looks better IMO. I love our field turf
No just No. If you dont play indoors or way up north then you have no business having fake grass.

When mold is beginning to grow because your field can't properly be drained or dried off after rain, then you have no other choice.

Arkansas We had grass before Petrino but he had field turf installed when he came in because it fit his offense better he said. It will be interesting to see if the next coach keeps it or is even given the option.
I hope we go back to real grass eventually personally
