not that the whole state isn't hog dominate but i think my home county had the highest percentage of them all and it's not in nwa.
To be fair, I live in NWA and readily admit I was surprised Benton County's number was so high for the Hogs because there are so many transplants up here. The fact that it's less than 70 doesn't surprise me, but I was sort of surprised it was higher than 60%.
In terms of fan allegiance, Benton County is sort of Atlanta on a smaller scale.

A significantly larger number of in-state kids go to State, and tend to stay in state. So, alumni-wise, State has a decent majority.
I was told its because State has branches all over Miss.

Our little orange pocket down there is so cute. All I see in the rest of the state is "SIDEWALK".

That shite that's happening on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is why respectable individuals don't live there.

Being a larger school in general is a big part as well. More alumni and most of the growth has occurred in the past 10-15 years.

Here's a car-tags-sold map to compare...

You probably do. The study uses Facebook and likes of schools. You have a lot of people who like both auburn and UGA in West Georgia so UGA gets those votes as well.
Parts of Desoto County Miss skewing Memphis is bullshite. Basketball doesn't count. Haha

These are the exact kinds of data about which I warn my grad students regularly during our research methodology course.

According to TicketCity, Texas A&M has a huge following on social media with twice as many Twitter followers and five times as many Facebook fans. Couple that with the fact that their tickets are averaging a higher price than the Longhorns and the Aggies easily are now the most popular team in the state.

One of these articles is full of shite

Awesome map, but anything within 5% shouldn't make it bulldog country. You've got like 5 more tags in Harrison and Jackson counties.

Maybe A&M's bandwagon isn't from Texas. Just a bunch of folks who like Jff

Could be true, my office had a couple of dudes move from Philly and NYC respectively and they had no idea Texas A&M was a school but they loved JFF and went to sports bar to watch games with me last season

Just saying each article claims to use "Facebook Likes" as a data point yet both came up with completely different results.

Looking at some of the mountain areas of Tennessee you can tell a ton of Floridians have retired there, UF is the 3rd most liked team on the entire border. If I had to guess, UF is probably in the top 5 in similar NC areas.

On a similar note, what percent of residents want to move out of your state?
quote:
If you were given the chance to move from your current state to another, would you want to? That was the question behind a new Gallup poll that shows nearly half of the residents in progressive meccas like Connecticut and Illinois would be willing to move to a different state .
quote:
According to the poll, the states most residents would be willing to leave include much of the northeast. Illinois tops the list with 50% of respondents saying they would move, followed by Connecticut (49%), Maryland (47%), Nevada (43%), Rhode Island (42%), New Jersey (41%), New York, (41%), Massachusetts (40%), Louisiana (40%), and Mississippi (39%).
On the contrary, Montana, Hawaii, and Maine are the states where the fewest residents would leave if they could. Just 23% of residents in all three states said they would move. Oregon, New Hampshire, and Texas were close behind with just 24% of residents answering yes, followed by Colorado and Minnesota at 25%, South Dakota at 26%, and Wyoming at 27%.

Well it does say that we rule the Charlotte area so it looks legit to me.

According to the map, UF is the top school in New Hampshire, Maine, most of Vermont, much of Massachusetts and Rhode Island and is in the top 3 of most of New York. UF is loved in New England.

I would've thought we'd have carried a border county in Georgia. That surprised me.
Yeah that's weird. Us having support in NC didn't surprise me although I was surprised at the amount of support in Virginia (figured that wouldn't go much further than the Tri-Cities).
In TN... Knox, Union, Campbell, Grainger and Jefferson having 3-5%+ Gators really shows how much retirees have impacted E. TN lately. For example, there really shouldn't be a soul in Union or Grainger that's a Gator fan (microscopic in population and no jobs to bring in new blood) but recently those itty bitty counties have sold lakefront and mountain view property developments to a lot of outsider retirees. Near those two counties, Claiborne Co. which hasn't had a lot of retirees come in, shows what it should be which is Vols then Wildcats.
