Head and cheese should never comprise a food name.

I usually start out the season grilling burgers and brats. Sometimes we smoke some pork or beef brisket. Once it starts getting colder we make a nice big pot of chilli. I usually order pizza and wings for a game or two. I usually do one game with a bunch of finger food like salsa, cheese dip, pigs in a blanket etc..etc. Last regular season game is thanksgiving food. And if we're lucky, deer will be on the menu at some point.

I started brining my venison last year. A good 24 hour soak before cooking.

Y'all got me thinking about food and being from GA I don't know how to make gumbo. Figured I'd ask some of the LA baws on the food and drink board. Just wanted a recipe- I had no idea but that started a gumbo WAR.
LSU fans take that gumbo stuff seriously!

As an OU fan, it would be alka seltzer and crackers. OU makes me so damn nervous all the time. Can never know if they'll cruise or die in the same game.

conecuh sausage is the best. i always stock up on it when we go home and have it shipped up here when we run out. my friends here in indiana can't get enough of it.

Usually I'll try to do something in line with who were playing i.e. chicken for Carolina, pork for Arkansas, etc. If that isn't feasible for obvious reasons I'll buy beer at Liquor Barn from whichever state that we're playing and them just fire up the smoker and put on ribs or brisket etc.

Edit: doing a pot of burgoo this year for the first real cold game. Wish more folks would do that at Commonwealth and make it more of a tradition. Figured I'd start doing my part this season

different things depending on mood & weather:

shrimp boil (we're in indiana, if we don't have shrimp in the freezer we have to have it shipped up here from joe paddy's in pensacola. only have frozen, bland, expensive shrimp up here)

ribs or butt slow cooked on the grill

chili

gumbo

grilled wings with lots of sides

i'm thinking this weekend is going to include:

boston butt with spicy rub and garlic cloves inserted into the meat slow cooked on grill; grilled corn on the cob; grilled peaches; mango strawberry salsa; potato salad or cole slaw, etc
