Both the grey and the black are sharp as hell. UT has the only alternate uniforms that I like.
I actually dug the Georgia Black Helmets. What I miss are shiny silver britches.

This and the maroon white maroon.
Just awful…

I really like our current white uniforms since they are simple & clean, but I wish they would pair it with the white helmet & maroon facemask even if it was once per year. This is my personal favorite helmet:

yeah, that was bad.
In 98 against UF we wore black pants and red tops:
In the bowl game following the 97 season we wore black pants with white tops:
Not crazy about the red tops but we've shown in the past that black pants and white tops can work. BUT, you need the red helmet to tie it together. black/white/black is just awful.

As an alternate...I loved these when UT wore them in 1972 and the 2005 resurrection....but only as a gimmick game uniform. Would hate them as a regular one.

what is your opposition to the '95 jersey you posted? I mentioend in the other uniform thread but I was just coming of age and really getting into CFB in the mid-90s, so I equate that kind of jersey with UT being a national powerhouse. Those mid-late 90s UT jerseys with the comically enormous numbers will always remind of me of UT pummeling us during that era.

I didn't like the black number outline on the away jerseys, an I hated losing the stripes on the pants. No issue with the number size...but as pointed out earlier...black wasn't even listed as a tertiary color for UT, and they decided to add it to the uniform seemingly arbitrarily (because the orange numbers with outlines were hard to make out from the pressbox).

These would have been amazing with white pants

to this:
David Cutcliff decided we needed shiny silver pants, new stripe, and no more shoulder stripes. He was an idiot.

Didn’t realize Nike had totally screwed UT like that. The adidas is night/day better.

No “bad uniform thread” is complete without these

The Adidas ones posted weren't bad but I remember thinking the Tennessee unis with them looked piss yellow instead of orange in the late 2000s and they sucked.

Oh my sweet baby Jesus. What is that?
Edit: also, VOLS smokey gray unis were meh, but the helmets were pretty slick, imo.

Why is Nike so obsessed with making teams wear gray?
Posted on 4/21/22 at 12:35 pm to Goombaw
Because they don't know how to be creative with the colors that teams are already using.
