THE WORDS BELOW ARE FROM THE ARTICLE:
Rumors that T-Town Menswear owner Tom Al-Betar switched allegiance from the Tide to the Tigers after being disassociated by the University of Alabama Athletics Department are totally false. But as can be seen in this letter distributed Sunday at Auburn’s Fan Day, Auburn’s compliance department wasn’t taking any chances.

So basically, the Auburn AD said all our players that signed stuff last year may be facing an NCAA violation because some boog fan auctioned things they signed? Thats crazy.

This is what's happening for UGA pic day on the 20th...

quote:

Due to recent public issues surrounding student-athlete autographs across the country, no outside items may be brought to Picture Day. The Georgia Athletic Association will provide each fan with two free schedule posters to be signed by the players and Coach Richt. No other items will be permitted.

As long as they players didn't allow this to be signed and sold with them knowing or should have known. Someone selling an autograph from a player at fan day is not likely, they could be in trouble with the Men's ware signing stuff as the NCAA may rule they "should" have known it was being sold even if they got no benefit from it.

Hmm I'm going to sell some Richardson, Upshaw, Hightower, Kirkpatrick, Lester, and Barron signed stuff just to see what happens!

So Auburn (and GA and others) are trying to prevent what UAT says is not a violation

The air of impropriety is all the is needed in this day and age. Guys like Clay Travis will take something that is not a violation and package it in a manner that presents it as such. AU is trying to avoid the headaches that come with what I referenced.
