“Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder,” Saban said. “We’ll have to take it day to day. I think he's OK. He doesn't have a serious injury. We didn't think he could go back in the game today because I didn't think he had much steam throwing the ball."

"He's had these [injuries] before and in a few days he starts to respond pretty well. So we'll just have to see how it goes and, you know, play it day-to-day."
quote:

The AC (acromioclavicular) joint is where the shoulder blade (scapula) meets the collarbone (clavicle). The highest point of the shoulder blade is called the acromion. Strong tissues called ligaments connect the acromion to the collarbone, forming the AC joint.

An AC joint sprain occurs when an injury damages the ligaments in the AC joint.

Treatment will depend on how serious the strain is, and whether there is damage to other parts of the shoulder. Treatment may include rest, a sling, and cold packs.

Would love to beat the shite out of A&M this weekend without him, but I'm sure he'll want to play.

shoulder AC joint sprain - treatment seems to be work through it but don't overdo it. My guess is he'll have a defined/limited snap count for tamu but unlikely to play the whole game

We don’t need him but he’ll play so he can still have a shot at the back to back Heisman.

Saban said after the game that it was an AC sprain. They don't think it is serious.

I doubt Saban will say anything else more than that this week. He would prefer to use this make Texas A&M prepare for both Young and Milroe.

If this was the first time it happened I may agree but Saban said he’s had them before and his arm recovers after a few days. Bryce is going to want to play and will be medically cleared so I can’t see Saban keeping him out. Saban doesn’t believe in resting starters because he wants his team to play every game like it’s the most important game they’ve ever played.

Ok but what’s the point of risking it to make it worse? If he can play I’d only let him if need be in the 2nd half

If they were playing an OOC team, he probably wouldn't play, but it's a lot harder to risk not starting him Saturday with it being an SEC game. For instance, let's say Milroe starts and A&M somehow is winning. Do you risk letting your team get behind with your true freshman backup and then let your hurt QB lead a comeback? A&M still does have a pretty good defense, so It'd be a pretty big risk sending a guy like Milroe out there if they don't have to.

If Young is healthy enough and isn't at a high risk to reinjure his shoulder, I'd start him and then pull him if and when Alabama has a big lead.

The only thing I worry about is sending out the backup against a pretty damn good defense. On the other hand, A&M shouldn’t score more than 14 unless something crazy happens

Shoulder injuries do not heal overnight. He could take an injection every game, but that will cause a risk to his NFL career.

I'm sure they hit him with the cortisone shot pretty soon after the injury and just hope it takes. Just keep the treatment going during the week and give him a shot of toradol before the game.

I had those same shot in my ac joint back in the day. Never had a problem with needles but that was a big gauge they use for your larger joints like a shoulder. Not the frick all type they would use for a hip but big enough to give you pause.
